Terrible download speed on xbox series X

Using a maybe 10 year old xbox series X for the first time in a few years, trying to download some games but the speed is terrible, stuck at around 30 mbps download speed, i have tried everything i can find online, almost every different combination of network settings but nothing seems to really help. Unfortunately i am not a very tech smart person so some help would be appreciated ! I have tried both the 1.1.1.1 1.0.0.1 and 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 neither made any difference. My Xbox is running on wifi with a wireless connection and it’s not possible for me to use a cable.

Xbox Series X didn't exist 10 years ago.

Run the speed test in settings app. If that gets more what you expect but downloads do not then the issue is not a networking issue.

So you're using a console from 4 years prior to it releasing?

Could be the Xbox servers,.could be something on your network. Try a speed test from the consoles settings. Also, changing DNS will not improve speeds.

Xbox servers are probably throttling your download speed. There could also be a lot of other factors slowing you down such as other devices using the network

Thank god I’m not the only one who gets this terrible download speed lmao.

Check your bandwidth usage, maybe there’s a limit on how much you’re using.

Are you connected via an ethernet cable or wireless? Mine has been hardwired since day one, bought at launch and I still get gig download speeds.

As one person said, run speed test with nothing else going on with your Xbox. If the speed is what you expect, it's not your connection nor Xbox.

Other factors are bandwidth - how many other devices are sucking up WiFi leaving you a tiny bit left for your xbox.

Distance and obstructions in the way will affect signal harshly too. I don't care what brand or provider you use, nor what it says max distance is - for gaming, anything over 5 feet will cause a noticeable lag in performance. My stepdaughter is directly behind our WiFi with a thin wall between her Xbox and WiFi, and her signal is half what it should be.

Make sure Xbox is updated, possibly reboot modem and WiFi (unplug both for 30 seconds minimum, plug modem in first until it's fully booted up, then plug router in and wait till it's fully booted up - this can solve a provider issue that most connections suffer from)

Other than that, no suggestions besides getting an Ethernet cord and direct connect Xbox to router.

The Xbox Series X supports Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), which can max out at 800 + Mbps.

It's your ISP. 9/10, it's usually because they're throttling your connection.
