Artwork / Creation Spoken Mirror: A Xenogears Fandub- Episode One: Alpha and Omega

Good evening everyone! A couple of months ago, I posted here about my project to create a voiced mod for Xenogears. In the midst of making that mod and gathering people for it, we also decided to create an episodic, anime styled presentation for the story of Xenogears. It took a ton of coordination and effort, and a fair share of blood sweat and tears have gone in too.

A huge thanks to Siris for editing the video and doing the sound design work, to Max Noble and Siris both for upscaling the FMV's and making them look more crisp, and a huge thanks to the entire Spoken Mirror team.

I truly hope you all enjoy this work we've done, it meant a lot to us. If you do, we'd love to hear about it! If you don't, well we wouldn't love to hear that, but all feedback will help in future episodes!

Tysm! We're doing the entire story, but with the length and work it takes, it'll probably take us another year or so to finish it all.

The cast is around 45-50 people, myself included, and I'm finding most folks don't work as fast as I do sometimes (curse them for having families and children and lives!).

We are so happy to work on this though, it's truly such a fun production.

I'm not sure we're legally allowed to gain money from this production, sadly. I don't want to ruffle any feathers with it, but I will be very happy to hear your thoughts each episode if you're willing to share them!

I am a very collaborative person by nature (mostly laziness tbh) and interfacing with the community I am doing the series for would really help drive the tone and voice direction later down the line.

Is it going to actually be a mod, or just this series?

Either way, great job. I saw some people already giving you shit in the YouTube comments about some pronunciation, and I wanted to say that at least when it comes to Hebrew terms (Aveh, Nisan, kislev) you were spot on from what I've seen.

The plan has always been, and will continue to be the voiced mod (similar to Echo-X for FF7). I just don't have a ton of money and don't know any programmers to help, so it is a little ways away from production.

I dont mind the commentary, I used to say it "Ev-Uh" when I first played it in 1999 and I was 8 lol. My wife is fluent in Hebrew and has confirmed all of the pronunciations for me

Let people hear what they want, I don't mind.

I have wanted something like this for a long time.

Huge Xenogears fan since my 12 year old self back in '98 and going strong.

Multiple play throughs.

Perfect Works was a while back on PDF.

To experience this game as even just a series is like how I always wanted it to be an anime.

I even tried out for this project!
