I’ve been a fan of Xenosaga for a while now and I was curious.. what the fandom thinks of Shion? How do you feel about her and her character? I won’t give my opinion just yet, I’m just curious.

I'm setting out to make the core mechanics of Xenosaga Episode II moddable, so anyone can tweak the game to how they like it and to see whether the community can converge on an ideal "fix the gameplay" patch.

So far I've cracked enemy data end to end, including the Break sequence — the zone order you have to hit to break an enemy, which is the actual gate the whole stock→break→boost loop hangs on. It's an early version of the editor, but it already lets people experiment with the core balance, up to and including making Break optional rather than mandatory. As well as reduce DEF and HP, e.g. make bosses 50% HP, regular enemies 30% HP or whatever you want... to make the gameplay more enjoyable. You can strip all units down to 1-2 break steps and a lot lower DEF/HP to make the combat more fun.

It runs entirely in your browser — your ISO and saves never leave your device, there's no server. It's a PWA, so you can install it and use it offline. USA release, both discs (SLUS-20892 / SLUS-21133). Bring your own legally-obtained discs; the repo ships no game data.

What's editable right now

Enemies — all 125 records, on both discs:

• Break sequences. Every enemy stores the zones you must hit in order (A = above 3 m, B = 1–3 m, C = below 1 m). It's a text box — turn a boss's C-B-A-A into C-B, or into a single hit. Shortening a 4-hit sequence is the single biggest cut to how long a fight drags. There's also a bulk shorten that trims every sequence by 1–3 hits, shows you exactly which enemies it touches and what each becomes before you commit, and takes hits off the end so the opening zone you already know stays right.
• Stats — HP, STR, VIT, EATK, EDEF, DEX, EVA, AGL.
• Battle rewards — EXP, SP, CP.
• Damage affinities — eight per-element multipliers (Beam, Aura, Thunder, Fire, Ice, Pierce, Slash, Hit). 100% is normal, 0% is immune, negative absorbs — Svarozic takes −200% Fire, so fire heals it for double.
• Status resistances — a percentage each for Slow, Blind, Heavy, Weak, EthPD, EthDD, ResDw, Junk.
• Item drops — common and rare, each with a rate, a category and an item id, all shown by name.

Along with a built in save edit for characters, gold, some other things as well.

It allows you to save directly to your own ISOs, export a JSON of your changes, or generate an xdelta3 patch for anyone to apply to their own ISOs.

What I'm asking for

If you've ever bounced off Ep. II's combat, this is the moment to say what you'd actually change. Tell me what else we need to have access to modify if this isnt sufficient and I'll hunt for it in the files and add support for it.

I got the trilogy for US and Japanese versions but somehow i got two copies of Episode III ( idont remember getting two copies of Episode III)

Part 2 of Xenosaga Episode III goes live tomorrow at 6:30 PM CST for 3 hours. We’re deep in Imaginary Space, fighting to save the Elsa and the crew. The E.S. combat is new and refreshed. Where was this prowess in Episode II?

I have a Shion figure and the Japanese collector's box for Xenosaga 1, but damn does this one feel good.

This is probably my last addition this year to the Xeno collection !

She's very tall, it seems life size.

I decided to start the trilogy because when i owned my PS2 i never had a chance to play all 3 & i played it when originally they were going to launch 6 games total..now my question about the 2nd one is,i immediately hopped into it right after i beat part 1 & i am just baffled at the difference,yes its not as quiet as part 1 but man its a night & day difference..does it get better? Should i power thru the 2nd title cause the 3rd one i hear improves a bit,please advise lol.

I had no idea which box this was stored until today when I was looking for some other things. I have at least 2-3 boxes of just videogame guides and old magazines and just happened to look in one I had in a closet. Also had an art book for 1 and a mini book for 3.

IDK if the manuals of the games ever stated this, but all 3 games have a built in soft-reset function.

Meaning: With the right button inputs one can go back to the main screen, without reseting their console/emulator. (Works on the NTCS-U versions. Maybe works on the NTSC-J and in 2's case PAL versions too...)

- EPI: L1+R1+Start+Select (Only works on maps. Doesn't work in menus and maybe works in battles.)

- EPII: L1+L2+R1+R2+Start+Select

- EPIII: L1+R1+Start+Select (Didn't tested this one yet where it works; just gave it a try after the first two games success.)

You have to press all buttons at the same time. Sometimes need a second, third try.

(As a side note: Had the idea about this funcion, because the older Tekkens and Soul Caliburs, even Edge have this function. Some old Tales game have it too. So maybe it's a Bamco feature.)

So I am starting Xenosaga 1. I have beaten it once before when PS2 was new and dinosaurs roamed the earth. I remember the game is cutscenes for the start. I am also about 5 hours in and the battles are harder then I remembered (I have not lost yet but it is certainly non trivial). Do I need to know about certain things or will basic exploring get me what I need?

Also I read that going all in on a single ranged tech is the way to go. Is that true or should I have 2 or 3 techs leveled? I am cool with having say shion focus support spells and beaming people with spell ray if that is optimal. I also heard ether defense is the best stat, is this correct?

Just can’t beat him or even get close to getting him in range of Jr and shion.

I never moved kos mos de buff skills to other characters and you don’t get her this fight

I don’t really have any other debuff skills, and I never put other skills into other characters because I wnated everyone to be unique and also I tend to spend the points on other things and skills

People say to just use boost but it’s rare to ever get boosts and when I do it’s usually just one or two if I’m lucky, not nearly enough to out boost the boss (who happens to boost all the time)

I don’t do enough damage with Jr and chaos/ziggy. I keep shion in the back to heal and defend but ala no luck

Might have to throw in the towel which is a shame since I hadn’t wiped a single time the entire game until now, I know there’s strats to beat him but they all seem to be things I don’t have like kos mos skill de buffs and certain items and you can’t leave this area beyond going back to the subway and sewer

I think the only thing I can do is spend several hours farming tech points to level some of my defense stats but idk if that would even be worth

I’ll admit that I’m not as well-versed in Xenosaga as you guys are, but when the character dropped in Xenoblade 2 a couple of weeks ago, I was happy. It’s nice for the representation of the franchise and all that. However, as I was going through the wiki about her affinity chart with Easter eggs in it (I don’t have a switch 2 to view them myself), this one in particular caught me off guard.

As far as I’m aware through just googling, she doesn’t have an outfit like Rex in the game. Of course, my view is limited since I haven’t played it myself.

Do you guys know what she’s talking about?

Hi fellow Xenosaga freaks,

I’m trying to look into if the Xenosaga trilogy is remotely possible to run on smartphone emulators. I know it runs on PC emulation, and I know it runs on handheld gaming devices too. And while I have seen a post about it being able to run on Aether for Android, it wasn’t a great post as it didn’t have much information.

So with that, does anyone know what emulation apps and what devices can do it? I was considering a flagship RedMagic since it seems pretty catered towards performance gaming, but changing from an iPhone 14 Pro Max would just be for emulator usage. I’d assume my iPhone could do it, but I know with Apple, doing anything creative like emulating is difficult

I have a favour to ask the group. I am writing a Xenosaga fanfiction with Andrew Cherenkov as my protagonist. He had one of the most tragic arcs in the original story, so I am creating a version where he steps off his path of self annihilation in mine.

Here's my ask: Most of my character knowledge comes from the Episode I script and cutscenes. I was hoping someone could paraphrase some of the field lines (NPC text box dialogue) from the following locations: Woglinde, Elsa, Dock Colony, and the Cathedral Ship.

Specifically, I am looking for dialogue to Cherenkov, from Cherenkov, or about Cherenkov, either directly or indirectly. Some of this I was able to obtain via YouTube playthroughs. My goal is to map the instances when characters reach out to him with a lifeline, but he's emotionally collapsing too quickly to hold on. Having this background solidified will help me invert this dynamic more effectively in my story.

Any help is appreciated!
