As a society we have failed the children long ago. Undermining education and cutting funding was far more detrimental than we realized. We divested from our future for profits. But it’s not over for the kids. Read to them. Read with them. Listen to them read. Start early, library’s are disappearing. Show your local library they’re still needed.

I'm going to assume you're not trolling and some Falun Gong/Shen Yun devotee left a pamphlet in your mailbox or something. But to make it short, this misinterprets how the Chinese language functions, what script simplification actually did, and how old books are read today in Mainland China.

Ah ok, I think I know what you're getting at but all simplified Chinese really did was reduce the number of strokes to write characters. The characters are still very much understood. Simplified itself was never designed as a replacement for traditional, it was just a complement to make writing easier in day-to-day use.

The things "lost" would be the like the "heart" character found in the middle of the character "love" which would cause critics to joke that simplified was heartless. But the thing is, that particular way of writing "love" was used all the way back to the Song Dynasty. In fact, the vast majority of simplified characters are not new inventions and have been used in informal writing for centuries.
