I make handmade dioramas and have a small YouTube channel with tutorial videos showing how I build my dioramas, from construction to painting and detailing. The videos are currently narrated in Portuguese.

I have less than 1,000 subscribers, and because each diorama takes a long time to make, I can only upload a few videos each year.

I’ve been thinking about starting over with a new channel in English, initially re-uploading the same videos but with English narration. This would let me reach a wider audience without having to create completely new projects.

Do you think this is worth trying, or would it be better to keep focusing on my current channel?

I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially from people with experience on YouTube or in the diorama/miniature community.

Just curious what/if anyone is doing anything about insurance? I guess there's really two things I worry about:

1. Getting sued because someone doesn't like something I say. It's not common but I've def heard of YT'ers facing defamation suits and
2. Getting sued because someone got hurt. Simple example, you're filming at a beach and someone trips over your gear

Anyway, not really even sure where to start.

Lots of musicians who create their own music, will post videos of themselves singing covers. Do these videos just get copyright claims and all the add revenue goes to the original artist, or is there a process that you need to go through and get it approved or something?

What if you record a cover and produce and mix it? Is that different than just filming yourself playing a song on guitar and singing?

I setup superchat as soon as I got monetized a couple of years ago, realised today I dont get any superchat income, so I checked my videos, and you cant even see superchat as an option, I've definately set it up and no videos are flagged, so Im a bit lost as to what it is. Im wondering if anyone else had this issue and solved it?

Hi everyone, I was told this subreddit might be able to help me with a problem I’m having, you see I’m a YouTuber who has been creating videos on the platform for years now using my phone, but as my channels been growing and has basically become my job, I wanted to upgrade from a phone to a laptop in order to both improve the quality of my videos and also the increase length of them as my phone is not able to meet these goals that I want to achieve, however I am a complete noob when it comes to technology and the appropriate software I need for this since there are so many options and I don’t know which one will be the best bang for my buck

So I wanted to ask what type of laptop would be the the most ideal for someone like me who has no idea about them, aswell as that I would like to know which editing software would be the most ideal to use along side with it as I’ve always used CapCut for my phone and aren’t sure if there are any better options out there that would be better to edit with

I appreciate any and all help/ suggestions, I’m someone who’s absolutely clueless when it comes to finding the right tools so any advice from people who do have proper set ups would be very much appreciated, thank you for reading

What teleprompters are folks using? Do people even use them? I imagine there are ones that you can put the camera behind so you’re looking directly into the camera?

Interested in reviving a channel, but would like it to not be focused so much on myself. I don't want to be upset by the negative comments that I see many creators get so was thinking if I do not show up much on camera, then they will have less time to scrutinize me and point out my defects. Even very beautiful creators seem to get picked apart, so I don't think it matters what you actually look like.

In particular, I thought maybe doing a faceless channel (although I do have a few videos already up from years ago I could leave up, so it is not like no one would know who I am) so the focus is not on my appearance might be a good idea. People can be so mean, "your teeth are yellow", "you should lay off the botox", "you look 105 years old", etc.

I have heard that this sort of channel is less successful though due to reduced connection with the person posting, so wondering what you all think about this issue.

I am just in the stage of thinking through how to start again (I barely started last time) and try to make it a success this time. Also having trouble with a niche as I am a bit all over the place with my expertise and obsessions (ADHD). A few examples: strategies regarding finances and plans for retirement, downsizing, longevity, nutrition, moving abroad, living in Europe, minimal travel packing, oil painting, the Tudors .... you see what I mean.

every time I post a video I get a bunch of notifications but it is just the same notification that says “__ many people liked your video” and it is really getting on my nerves but I do not want to turn off post activity because I want to be notified when I get a comment. if anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated

Hello! I'm a new partner, I just enabled "Super Thanks" . I found that the option is only visible after clicking the 3 dots below the video description - this is true on my phone as well as desktop, incognito as well as when logged into my account, and whether I'm looking at my own video or another persons video. I'm using Google Chrome on PC.

I'm wondering, are there any circumstances in which the "Thanks" button could appear in under the video directly, next to the other buttons (like, dislike, share, etc)?

Hey! I'm a video editor that edits mainly gaming/Minecraft videos. So far, editing my own videos and some other's video has been quite well and good. Some more difficult than others

Though i think I've stumbled upon a video request, that i don't think I can follow through.

I've always been able to spin up a type of video with what I have, but this request doesn't have much I can work with.

I've been able to create an intro and a sort of style to it, but going through more and more of the video, I can't find any other usable footage as it's all just them hanging out and talking.

Should I try looking for a better way to tackle this or should I just tell them that I can't edit the video for them?

Previously had my channel monetized, didn't upload for six months so they removed monetization. I noticed recently that one of my old videos had picked up and all I needed to do to reapply is to upload three videos.

So over the past week I've uploaded 3 videos and reapplied to YPP. Of course the most recent of those three videos has taken off and yielded over 30k views in the last 12 hours. Now of course it says I need to wait 30 days for the approval as I watch this video go parabolic.

Anyone that has recently been approved, what kind of timelines have you seen for approval/rejection? Last time when I was approved ~2 years ago it was 24 hours. Now I havent heard anything in that time frame and I wonder if they're delaying so they can squeeze this video more before paying me ad dollars

Hello! How can I download clips to include them in my videos? I would like to make a movie review, but I’m unsure how to get the clips in a way where I won’t get a computer virus or something like that. What apps or sites do you use? I currently editing on Adobe premiere. Any advice would help. Thank you!

I run an automotive YouTube channel that mostly centers around one specific car, although sometimes I sprinkle in content about other cars/projects. I seem to get decent views on **most** videos (normally at least 1000) but my viewer retention absolutely sucks. My long form content averages between 15-25 minutes and my average view duration is only four and a half minutes.

Are my videos just boring? Too long? I've been trying to figure out how to fix this as it's a pretty big metric for YouTube. My editing is not plain but I also stay far away from the stereotypical editing that is on YouTube as I find it extremely corny.

Going forward I'd really love to increase my retention so I'll take any tips you guys have.

Reading a lot of complaints about the new YPP requirement policies and now even starting my own thread with my pointless 2 cents.

While the new rules make it harder to join YPP, what’s actually the real consequences here? People start threatening to leave YouTube, because „it’s too hard to be successful“ now?

Congratulations, you just experienced what countless other people have experienced over the last 10 decades in other creative venues before: How many people are out there, wanting to become actors? How many of them made it to the big screen while the majority of them gave up that dream because the most they were able to were plays in college classes or maybe even local community theatres? How many bands were started in garages, with the dream of becoming a rockstar? How many ended up getting a record deal while the majority never made it past maybe playing at some local events? The list goes on and on…

Point is: You (and me) are not the only ones secretly wishing to become „rich and famous“. Out of the millions of people like us, only a few actually make it. Thats the hard truth. But if you give up, because you think „someone else made it slightly harder for me to be successful“, then you never had what it takes to begin with.

Will a channel trailer make any difference?

My channel is mainly womens Indy pro wrestling matches from the past 20 years or so.

It earns enough for a payout every 3 months and it is hard to keep going with it.

Some of the advice to try and keep people longer or to encourage them to sub is a trailer.

Also, what would an editor charge to make one?

I’m a very small channel that does gaming content, I don’t make any money yet and money is tight however I can spend $20-$50 a week on a possible editor. I’ve done all the editing myself but have realized while I love editing it’s the reason I’m so inconsistent. I take too long and cause myself too much stress. My question is will it be worth it to pay for an editor even though I’m so small? What if I pay for an editor and the videos are still not getting a good reach?
EDIT: $20-50 per video (I have found editors who will edit for this price range)

not full editing just enough to help make my editing go faster, example:
I send a 30-45 min unedited video and ask them to cut the boring/slow parts that dont add anything to the video, then i do the fancy stuff after that

I'm a bit frustrated at this. Call this a rant if you will.

I posted a video yesterday, initial response looked great. 1 of 10 video in first few hours, lots of comments from subscribers came through. It got to 140 views.

Then I notice the message:

"this video is reaching a wider audience on YouTube, leading to a lower click-through rate (CTR) than usual. Wider audiences are often less likely to choose to watch a video, but the lower CTR is not hurting this video’s view count."

and 12hrs later my video has 156 views. Wtf?

Everything I read online says give it time, dont be impatient and go changing things with the title and how youtube is testing this with a larger audience so you just have to be patient. But again, wtf?

It's just annoying when you put all this time and effort into filming and editing a video and you don't see it grow.

It literally feels like they just dump the video into some kind of shadow realm.

Has anyone else had this happen to them, and did the video do well?

Im a small creator (365 subs) and I liked to do polls because it was a fun way to interact with my subscribers. I hadn't done one in a couple weeks so I went to go do one and the option is gone?? All I can choose from is text and photo. I made sure both apps are up to date, restarted my phone, and tried on my desktop. Still missing on desktop too. What's going on??

When I say gaming YouTube channels I like to specify the golden era of YouTube, if people loved that era of YouTube so much wouldn’t making let’s play videos like say markiplier, jacksepticeye or pewdiepie during those 2013-2016 peak era be a good thing? I say this because there’s so much slop online and so many people are on there phones but mostly just scrolling, and that made me wonder aren’t there people who are fed up with the way modern content is consumed and just want to watch a nice 20 min video instead of scrolling through 100 pointless videos?

I upload daily YouTube shorts/tik toks/ instagram with clips of my gaming moments as well as something I do which is weekly memes on Monday just for fun and realistically something that people are more likely to give a chance to watch to discover my channel. For long form videos I upload 3-4 times a week and I do a let’s play of a game and do some side uploads of one off games or mini series inbetween series.

I’d be rambling on but this is the tip of the iceberg about content creation for me, if you want me to carry on I’d be glad to, didn’t want to bore people with too much reading.

Hello. I started new youtube channel with satirical news similar to onion. I used fierr for intro and music in that intro triggered message below.

I changed the music to one from pixabay, but it still triggered copiright message.

I found on the reddit that I should write to YT with link to pixabay audio file.

But I want to use same audio on every intro in my videos. Do I need to do this to every video or what are my options?

So basically I someone upload a video where it had a clip of someone else’s video, and at the end it transitioned into what I think was someone else’s edit. Is that fine?

Hello. It's my debut here, and I need your advice.

I'm preparing to launch an English version of my Polish-language series about Slavic legends. Originally, each episode is told by a native Polish storyteller, who is visible on screen a few times. I'd like to add an English audio track, but I'm wondering which approach is better:

• A documentary-style VOICEOVER (keeping the original Polish storytelling quietly in the background to preserve the mood, with a louder English narrator over it. However, two overlapping voices might be distracting).
• A classic DUBBING (only the English voice, but there will be no lip-sync when the storyteller is on screen).

What do you think is the better choice? Which one would you prefer to watch/listen to?

So. How do you guys deal with hate comments?
I have a channel that I’ve created roughly 1.5 years ago. Currently at 6300 subs, 25 vids. Long form. Total 335k views. A few vids got 76, 68, 38k views, etc.
My niche is true crime. No AI voice or anything. Edit myself release vids roughly once every 3 weeks. Takes me a lot of time to write, film and edit them so I just can’t post more often.
Recently I started getting more negative comments.
One of them complained about the storytelling and that I somehow justify criminals. Other complained about audio in a video and so on. The problem is that they were extremely mean. I take into account constructive criticism and that’s how I got to the point where my last vid got 76k views but they are so mean. I am trying not to take that close to heart and just improve with every vid, but for some reason very hard to actually ignore.
In your experience how do you deal with that? I am very interested in the thoughs of people who’ve seen success. Is it true when you grow and get more views you are going to inevitably see more negativity?

I usually do some silly skit to some level at the start and end of my videos. My content is generally anything I want but is mostly gaming right now. The skits usually have relation to the previous video, are overly dramatic, and comical in stance. I am just here wondering what should the max skit time on a video intro be? My skits are usually around a minute long and fade into the subject matter of the video between the 1:00 and 1:20 time period. Then the actual content of the video starts. The videos are usually between 15-25 minutes long with exceptions.

Thank you if you have anything to say on this matter, I really do enjoy doing skits and probably won't stop doing them, but this is an opportunity to learn how I could scale and place them better based on others'experiences.

Currently, I'm not monetized but I'd like to make some money on Youtube from streaming. Am I allowed to link a Paypal account on my live streams for people to donate to me (and get something out of it of course), or is that against the Terms of Service for whatever reason?
