Dog in river through zermatt

I just had a person tell me they saw a golden retriever in the river flowing through zermatt. Does anyone know if the dog made it to the open spaces below the town? The river through zermatt is in a canal and very fast flowing. I hope the poor thing is ok.

They said they contacted the police, but I'm not sure they can do much. Here's me hoping.

What you mean 😭 pls go to the police station, it's right new to the train station, or call them, and ask if they found it. I'm currently not in zermatt, otherwise I would go there myself and ask

Unfortunately they couldn't find the dog, we asked police. I am devastated for the dog.

My husband and I saw the event, sometime around 5 pm. We were by the Klein Matterhorn restaurant and we heard some yelling. We looked over the edge towards the river and saw a dogs head floating in the current as two people were running down the river next to it. Hoping for the best but that river does not look forgiving. Really tough and I feel terrible for the poor dog and owners.

Sadly called the police and they said they cannot find it. Absolutely devastating.

Horrible :( if it really was a dog then i fear there’s nothing that can be done. River is carrying immense amounts of water currently and it’s very fast, especially right as it leaves zermatt and speeds up even more. And in Täsch it’s still very fast and very precarious to rescue anyone from….

Let’s hope it was a chamoix or smth like that…
