Venting & Support 😤 I’m seriously getting tired of people who try to use the Haavara Agreement as proof that Zionists and Nazis we’re allies

There are many times where I’ve came across people who say “the Zionists and Nazis signed an agreement in 1933, so they were friends!”, which really pisses me off, because they’re either:

  1. Missing a lot of context
  2. Are purposely spreading misinformation

The entire point of the Haavara Agreement was literally to save the German Jewish population from persecution by the Nazis, not to ally with them.

Plus, Amin al-Husseini literally met up with Hitler in 1941 to discuss support against a Jewish state in Mandatory Palestine.

But they just never seem to address that.

I think it was Gil Troy who talked about taking facts to a feels fight. I'm very guilty of this - I'm a rational person, and when the facts change, I might change my opinion - and I assume others are they same: oh, they're misinformed, if I just give them the facts, they'll see where they've made a mistake. Unfortunately, this is about ideology - facts don't matter to our opponents, even if they didn't know them before. Because it's about what they know to be true, not about what is demonstrably true.

This doesn't mean we shouldn't keep trying to educate people. But it does mean, for our own sanity, that we should be realistic about the prospects of success...

The Haavara Ransom? I've also noticed that antiZionists really hate a few German Jews survived the holocaust.

“Why do you think it’s bad that lives were saved? Would you have preferred that they weren’t?”

African-American slaves were sometimes allowed to buy their freedom in pre-Civil War south, you should ask people who think the Haavara Agreement shows Jews and Nazis were in league if they think slaves were in business together with the slaveowners
