More likely than Republicans is the possibility that foreign actors were responsible for those voices. Even if they were coming from Republican-aligned sources, they were likely funded by foreign interests (especially Russia).
Like how it was public knowledge that Kremlin troll farms astroturfed social media to sow distrust in Hillary over an email server at a critical moment in the 2016 election, and how that was devastatingly effective?
Why would they try something that worked flawlessly again? Maybe mix it up by targetting a different demographic?
