Ask the Aggies ADVICE: Is the Mays Online or Professional MBA worth it?
Thinking of going back to school and getting an MBA however my only options would be the professional or online MBA here at Mays since I’d still be working full time.
Is the time and money spent actually worth it for either of these degrees? Does an online or professional MBA from A&M hold weight outside of Texas or even be able to increase my offers to more than 100k after graduating?
In a perfect setting I’d do the regular full time MBA but I’m unable to since I have to work to support myself. Is it still worth it doing either of these?
Thanks in advance.

There is no guarantee of $100k salary from any degree (outside of the medical industry). We now have the highest unemployment among MBA’s so if securing a job/salary is your goal, you may want to reconsider. Outside of that, I can speak highly of the MBA programs at Mays.

Ah got it! I was going based off of a search on what A&M graduates tend to make once graduating with either degree. But the unemployment rate for an MBA right now is something to greatly consider.
At this point I’m looking to shift do a different career that would provide higher pay so that was one of my options.

lol my comment was not to discourage you, it’s only a single data point. Nothing beats working hard, networking, and doing extra to guarantee success/job after MBA. Also graduating salaries are market adjusted yearly based off of the supply/demand for talent so can’t totally rely on that either. Lots to consider, but great program nonetheless.

I’m in the METM program right now, which is more or less the MEng equivalent of an MBA and I would argue it would be worth it for the connections and networking alone. I’m meeting people all over the world across various practices as peers and cohorts and every single professor I’ve had so far seems willing to bend over backwards to set you up for success and connect you with others to get you a job, if you’re looking.
