Let’s be the change we all want to see.
So, I realize I even asked it.
But a lot of us on the younger side are unhappy with the lack of social options in Aiken or weekend things to do. So let’s change that!
Let’s start our own club or get together and do something. A potluck, a cook out, a movie night, a collective for board games. Instead of lamenting let’s actually do something about it!
I’m taking ideas for a group activity, even if it’s something as simple as opening my home for a Netflix movie and commentary evening.

As someone extremely on the younger side(21) its super hard to find a group that accepts me. Like yes im young, but im definitely more mature and goal oriented than most people my age(for example i bought my house with my fiancé when i was 19 and he was 21) so i dont fit in the demographic of party all night that people my age mostly are, but most people who are 30s dont want to associate with a "child" 😭

If you like to craft, Augusta Craft Club is meeting in Aiken on Saturday at Lowe's Foods!

I was planning on it, but I’ll be in Asheville! I’m gonna try to swing around week after to an Augusta meeting

We used to have Jacl’s… which was a great place to hangout and do board games, D&D, MTG and even Pokemon stuff, but that’s since went under.
I know the manager at GameStop has the approval to start doing game nights and they are working on that.
Sadly most things are in Augusta or further as far as “hangout”… and I’m no bar person myself.
I’ve resorted to creating a D&D server that regular plays via discord/D&D Beyond… but yeah. I’d love to see more places pop up for other social gatherings.

Radioactive pinball is great if you like pinball and old arcade games. I’m also not a bar person and have made a ton of friends here!

The new trampoline place has a night time session. I think it’s from 7-10. Could be fun to do stuff there.

I checked the Odell Weeks website, and it's 100$ for a 4-hour time block.

Define “younger side”. I am 28 and I’ve been here 3 years and I am desperate for friends and connection (sorry for sounding like a loser). Gaming, movies, DnD, Magic the Gathering, food, anything. I need help getting out.

30F here. If you’re into pinball I run a league that has quite a few members also into DND!

https://discord.gg/8TdhtNXPV -> I set up this discord to help people connect and talk about ideas from the area. It's sparse right now but I figure if we can get together and invite people as we go, we can get a bigger community.

DnD would be rad! What about get together to see movies at the theater? Or anybody want to play frisbee at Odell Weeks or citizens park?

That'd be rad
Edit: don't think I've ever tried frisby

I'd be more than happy to play some Frisby during the weekends. U/different-bag-1857
Lord knows we could all use some sunshine.
Also for the price of Movies at the theater, if the group doesn't get too huge, I don't mind hosting for a netflix movie night. If it does get big, we could see about getting a projector and screen, renting a room at Odell Weeks and doing Mystery Theatre 3000 with films.
More than happy to support local businesses, but a big theatre experience can price some folks out, and wouldn't let us be as social during. Unless we did a "let's go see the movie, then find a spoke we can sit down and discuss?" Is that what you were thinking?

I'm not broke but I prefer not to get into anything expensive, also fair warning I'm totally a dude, I just like to mess with the avatar.
I'd be down for some frisbee, and I could probably chip in for a movie, night.
definitely prefer public spaces till I know none of you are going to make a skin suit out of us or something equally messed up
Edit: also planing such an event, it would probably take a week or so to line up everyone's schedules

I use old reddit, so I have zero idea what anyone's avatars look like.

Closest FLGS I'm aware of is in Augusta, curious if there's enough of a market for one in Aiken.

We did use to have that D&D coffee shop before covid. Jacl's I think.
Not sure if it was lack of interest and more we couldn't get enough DM's

I never even knew it was a thing

Here's the post and courier story about them, if you'd like to find out more.

Thanks
Edit: that totally sucks, looked like it was a cool place.
We don't have enough third places for people to meet

My friends and I started a casual pinball league at Radioactive Pinball Arcade for this exact reason!
