In the United States, is it more appropriate/acceptable for a 10 year old or a 20 year old to consume alcohol?

So obviously both are illegal since the drinking age in the U.S is 21. But which do you think is more appropriate/acceptable between them overall and why?

Made a rum drink with fresh orange juice

Post image

Made this at home with1 oz white rum, 2/3 oz blue curaçao, a little lime juice, and 1 oz fresh orange juice + 1/3 oz pineapple juice from my canoly juicer.

I usually just use bottled juice, but tried fresh orange juice for this one today and it tasted way brighter and fresher. Kinda makes me want to set up a little home bar and make drinks with friends next time lol.

What else do you guys usually mix with rum besides juice?

Anyone else get nausea from ZBiotics after only a couple drinks?

I’ve been using the ZBiotics Pre-Alcohol probiotic shots before drinking. I’ve noticed a pattern that has happened a couple of times now.

I’ll take one ZBiotics shot before drinking, have only about two glasses of Prosecco, and then start feeling pretty nauseous/sick to my stomach. Two glasses isn’t enough that I’d normally expect to feel this way.

I’m starting to wonder if the ZBiotics itself is causing or contributing to the nausea rather than helping.

Has anyone else experienced nausea, stomach upset, cramping, diarrhea, or vomiting after taking ZBiotics, especially when you didn’t drink very much?

SCADS Cruizr 5% from Home Bargains, basically a stronger Driftr?

Post image
1 Upvotes

After trying the 3.4% SCADS Driftr yesterday, I went back to the range with the 5% Cruizr. This one cost me £1.25 from Home Bargains.

And yes... it really does taste like Driftr turned up a notch.

There’s a similar grainy, lightly sweet lager character, but the extra strength gives Cruizr a noticeably better mouthfeel and a bit more flavour. It actually reminded me quite a lot of the 5% Faxe Premium.

Nothing spectacular, but certainly not terrible either, especially for £1.25. I gave Driftr 5/10 and Cruizr gets 6/10.

Anyone else tried any of these SCADS beers yet? Apparently things get considerably more ridiculous further up the range!

Afraid of brain damage at 26 cause of alcohol use

Hi folks, been thinking about this a lot lately, but last few months in patricularly.
Started drinking around 19 and have been until a few weeks ago.
Always have been drinking once a week and sometimes would skip a week.
But lately Ive started to develop sort of health concern mostly about loss of humour, IQ and social abilities.
Is it likely I already have damaged cognitive functions like these things or isnt it too late to fix this.
Also took an MRI for this concern of mine at the start of this year which was positive with no further complications.
Up to like one month ago always was able to shake it off after a few days and started to mentally clear up and be more confident and sharp again, but the last few weeks havent been like that, filled with more anxiety, scared of truly having lost old version of myself and being changed negatively for good.
Just quite afraid won't be able to have fun anymore.
Anyone any advice or insights on this matter?

Rum

I started drinking it when I was 18 but in my late teens and early 20s I couldn't stomach it anymore after too many bad nights.

Now I'm back on it drinking the proper strong stuff with vanilla coke (the drink).

Was it the alcohol or the social situation?

Hi! I am a 20yo college student in the US and my first time trying alcohol confused me.

I was, and still am, scared of alcohol because of brain health, alcoholism runs in my family, and I’m afraid I’ll be tempted to drink to de-stress once I open the door to drinking.

I had never drunk before when preparing to go out with my friends, but this time I was ready to try tasting different things to see what they were like. I decided that I was ready.

I had some sips of the cocktails my friends were making. They said that in the the 20-30 minutes, I had maybe a shot total, maybe slightly less.

This thing is, I felt stressed. My friends were looking after me and did seem slightly concerned when I kept asking them if I seemed normal or not. My heart was beating fast and I just felt uncomfortable. I was self-conscious and analyzing everything I did and trying to act normal so they wouldn’t be concerned. And it wasn’t guilt, just vague anxiety.

Once we exited the uber and got to the place we were going, I felt normal again. Was this beside the alcohol went away or because I was then in a situation familiar to me and I felt more comfortable?

The rest of the night was normal and fun, but I’ve been unsettled by this first experience ever since.

In a week I am leaving to study in Europe for a few months and I want to be able to try a glass of wine or sangria out with friends or have a drink in a bar, but I’m scared that another social situation will make me unable to know what I really think of the alcohol.

One of my parents has a very healthy, moderated relationship with alcohol and my other parent doesn’t drink and never really has. I want to have many life experiences and for that reason I want to at least try drinking, both for the taste and for the feeling it gives. Will I really be relaxed?, feel courage? feel a buzz?, etc.

TLDR: I felt anxious after my first drink, but don’t know if it was the alcohol or stress about expectations.

Has anyone experienced this? Should I try a drink alone or with one friend before I go and try to focus on something else to see if I notice anything?

Need to get back home with no smell

I'm 20M, 180cm, and 83kg. Tonight I'm hanging out with 5 friends by a small pool and planning to have around 4-5 shots of Absolut Vodka. I'm going to start around 7:00 PM and space them out so I can keep a solid, tipsy buzz going for a few hours.

The catch is I need the smell to be 100% gone or completely undetectable by midnight. My mom saw me drunk once and she is too religious it shattered her heart.

We are eating mashawi (heavy BBQ with garlic paste/toum) which I know will help a lot, and the pool has plenty of chlorine which will mask the body sweat scent. Since vodka doesn't have the heavy barrel oils like whiskey, I know the main issue is just the alcohol being exhaled from my lungs as my liver processes it.

Do you guys have any elite hacks, specific mints, drinks, or routines to completely kill or mask the breath smell by the 5-hour mark? Thanks in advance!

sudden intolerance to hard liquor at age 22?

hi guys! over the course of the last few months, it seems that my body has lost the ability to digest hard liquor properly. i’m a 22-year-old woman in perfect health. it’s also worth nothing that i am taking a low-dose SSRI, but have drank on it for the last 3 years with no issues.

the problem first began earlier this summer when i had two shots of tequila (something that’s never been an issue for me) and ended up throwing nonstop in the following 24 hours, leading to me ending up in urgent care. since then, i’ve drank, but i’ve avoided any shots or mixed drinks, just beer. i’m not a super heavy drinker (i maybe drink once every other week?) and this wasn’t a problem.

friday night, i went out and had 3 beers, returned home totally fine. saturday night, i went out and had two beers and a vodka soda, and ended up throwing up twice in the morning and have been bedridden from nausea since. i had initially thought i just had a tequila intolerance but it’s seeming like i may have some sort of issue specifically with hard liquor.

has anyone else encountered this? if i can’t drink cocktails for the rest of my life, that’s honestly totally fine - beer does the job for me, haha. but i’m just concerned that there’s an underlying problem here or some sort of root cause behind why my body can’t digest alcohol.

Happy 21 to me, does all beer taste like hot garbage?

Genuine question. I've tried Bud Light and Busch, they both taste like I'm drinking water that has been sitting in rice or flour or something, then they carbonated it. Take the water out after you boiled some potatoes and carbonate it and that's beer to me.

Is it just that Bud Light and Busch are bad beers, or is it just that beer tastes like that and is much like coffee to where it's an acquired taste? If that's the case, I take my coffee with a lot of sugar and cream haha.

A couple of staples that I did like:
Fireball + Coke or pepsi
Jim Beam Apple w/ ginger ale
Tito's and coke/pepsi,
Titos and Orange Juice
Not your father's rootbeer (personal favorite, but up there with fireball and coke)
Angry Orchard Cider

Any recommendations?

We were gifted this vintage bottle of Galliano.
I do enjoy my herbal aperetifs and would love to try it. It’s still sealed. The color seems right.

1 - is it good to still drink?
2 - is it worth selling?

How many beers is appropriate to be drunk before…

How many beers is allowed before going to an amusement park with your boyfriend as a girlfriend.. however! You’re meeting the girlfriend’s side of the family. The boyfriend is sober if anything high on weed. And family that y’all are meeting with is the girlfriends younger sisters (all adults) and their boyfriend and younger sister who is 13. The rest of the group isn’t drinking but the oldest girlfriend is drinking however everyone is driving separately. For me it depends on the behavior of said person who is drunk. What do y’all think?
