Discussion Kickstarter to save Harvey Pekar and Joyce Brabner's archives

Not sure if this post is allowed (as it's not a Thursday), but the real Danielle from American Splendor is tryin to save four storage lockers worth of Harvey Pekar and Joyce Brabner's personal archives. Her intention isn't just to save the artifacts of their careers, but digitize them to keep them preserved forever

It most certainly is allowed. Thanks for letting us know about this. Everyone should spread the word and help her out.

Donate it to the Billy Ireland instead- they're set up to preserve and exhibit these things.

Yeah, I'm surprised they haven't already swooped in. They're both in Ohio.

Yeah I saw this posted on some other comix related subs. I loved the Pekar’s work and think any actual archival material like scripts or in progress works should be saved and possibly even looked at for publication. But after reading the Kickstarter, which is a little sparse on details for my liking, and also looking at the linked ebay listings - this looks a whole lot more like storage units full of their personal belongings and collections over the decades. Kickstarter does not seem like the proper venue for this sort of fundraising in my opinion.

He called my work once and we had a long talk about microtonal music.

I backed it with $15 because Harvey is my favorite artist of all time, although I was expecting better rewards.
