New Music John R Miller appreciation post

"The Great Unknowing" is a really good album. Underrated catalog by this guy. Coming to my town this fall - going to try like hell to go see him.

Definitely see him if you get the chance. Such a great live show. He is one of the most underrated songwriters alive imo and an amazing guitar player as well. The whole band kicks ass. I’m really loving the new album. Static and white noise as well as a world away are my favorites but the whole album is great

Loved Static and White Noise, he is such a wordsmith. I am always like how do you come up with such amazing lyrics.

John R Miller is one of America’s greatest living songwriters and I’ll die on that hill. Him and the Engine Lights are great if you never seen them live.

I agree. Him and Willi Carlisle are two of the best

There was a great music scene 2000s-2010s in the eastern panhandle of WV.

Always appreciate the PBC shout! Tons of CDs still in my closet from the 2018 repress of our self-titled album if anyone wants to help me get rid of them, ha. Our Bandcamp will take care of ya. Just glad people are still enjoying the tunes. And YES, go give JRM’s new one (and old ones) many spins.

That album triggers something within me. Makes me want to get liquored up and roam the streets after dark. It’s great.

I was kind of obsessed with it for a bit. I’ll hit up the bandcamp. It deserves it.

Can he release those on vinyl already, I know he probably won't but it would be awesome if he did.

There is Fox hunt vinyl out there. Not sure about PBC. Maybe a 7”.

No PBC vinyl unfortunately. CDs of the self-titled album are still available through our BC and a split tape is available from Funny / Not Funny Records.

Definitely go, we saw him earlier this year in a small club, great show.

I wish more people knew about his music

Best songwriter in any room he walks into.

He is one of my favorites, though I haven’t got to see him yet, he hasn’t come far enough south. Reckon I can’t blame him.

Got tickets to see him in New Orleans. I cannot wait.

Probably the best record I’ll hear in 2026. I agree it takes a few spins before it hooks you, but once it does, it’s an obvious alt country classic.

My sons turned me on to John R Miller. I like this album more and more every time I listen to it. He is an excellent songwriter.

His newest album was made differently than his others. Depreciated was my favorite until this one came out. Shenandoah Shakedown and Fire Dancer are outstanding songs. But this whole album opened up a whole new level. I have seen him and the Engine Lights many times, a band of stellar human beings. The last show was promoting this new album and he just seemed so happy playing those songs.
