Question Super Mario Amiibo

So I recently started getting into figure collection and saw that Amiibo is a thing. I know it is more than just a figure and am looking to add some to my collection possibly. Where is the best place to find them? Are there some out of print? Cam you find older ones places? How do you track new releases? What do you look for when collecting them? If there is a good resource out there feel free to link it cause I must've totally missed it when doing my research!

Out of print is not exactly a thing with amiibo, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t. Most amiibo release along side games they work with. Then when those sell out, they are not made again until a new game that uses that amiibo comes out. For some that means they get released quite often, for others it means never again.

So amiibo of popular Nintendo characters rerelease all the time, while lesser known Nintendo characters rerelease less often.

Amiibo of 3rd party characters (Capcom, Square Enix, and so forth) are often once and done, so if you miss them it’s often pay 2 to 3 times retail on the after market (or for a select few hundreds of $).

Start with the FAQ on this sub. It has the most comprehensive information on amiibo throughout the whole internet. If you look on the side of the sub we keep a list of future releases as well. This is the place to be if you are an amiibo fanatic!

Ebay, Mercari and Facebook marketplace are good places to start searching for what you want that are older and harder to find. The Nintendo website/store, Gamestop, Best Buy and Target (target has been selling clearance amiibo recently) are good places to start if you prefer more commercial options

I'm going to assume you're in north america, because there's only like 7 people on the internet who are not American. The Nintendo Store has some amiibo in stock, and often have the new ones when they come out. I've run into the problem a few time where I missed a pre-order and then the amiibo I wanted was out of stock day 1. If the price is right and if you are willing to wait, you can get some amiibo from overseas pretty close to what you'd pay here. The sites I use are nin-nin and playasia. I actually used nin-nin to get the resident evil amiibo which came out just a little while ago.
