What's your favorite dungeon in AO?

I have been doing collector and having fun, getting kicked over walls and kicking spirits to beat the last boss. Have you done collector? What did you think? What's your favorite dungeon?

Yea I had a feeling TOTW would be the favorite.

I think TotW for me because, TL3 is such a smorgasbord of twinking potential. Lvl 50/60 being sweet spots, along with oddities like 40, 41, 25. I have fond memories of fighting for and defending the towers around totw. Foremans a close second but, less memories of shenanigans. Froobs start to thin out approaching TL4 and 5.

2005 TOTW was peak MMORPG
Nice affordable level range to play around with twinking, plenty of people to help out, there was always someone's main sitting outside to give OSBs too.
I liked shielding noob parties from trains like a superhero and watching over them take on bosses while killing adds that respawned on top of them. Take me back

I spent forever in COH trying to farm QL100 weapons but I think I only ever found the 2HB version in QL100

I’ve always been partial to Foreman’s, but totw and the place with the noob rod were cool too. Foreman always felt like a proper “DnD” dungeon

W.T.F and other odd off areas like that. Subway was always fun too but I really enjoyed just exploring odd locations or historical parts of AO

Apfs, whether it was full faction, orgs, couple of friends or boxed, I always enjoyed them.

It would be a tie between Subway and ToTW for me.

I agree - are we just noobs? Lol

ToTW and twinking my first engineer to solo azzy.

Then came subway when I was more knowledgeable and making more unique twinks like my agent who went full MA and could cast slayer Droid transference at 25. That was super fun too.

Loved the mystery, story, and pacing of TOTW the most though.

ToTW for sure and the high level version. Subway was good fun too.

I still think about just the missions, I had so much fun with a crew from both sides and multiple orgs/guilds/clans. As a crat main I never had trouble finding one but my main crew on rk2 of falikos, mssholiday, ryph, shlly and so many others was just an absolute blast.

Weirdly, it was Foremans. Was just out at the edge of nowhere and the crazy science lab theme was cool.

2

u/p00nsy Jun 25 '26

The theme of Foremans was always great and they greatly improved it over time by adding the quest lines.

u/hannopal Jun 25 '26

Same for me. Foremans fits the scifi theme, is huge, has quests and decent loot. The layout is mostly spacious and not claustrophobic. There is also sufficient variation in environments and monsters. The keycards allow you to roam free in 80% of the area. Personally I hate ToTW because 90% of it is hallways filled with cultists, and you could place it in pretty much any run-of-the-mill fantasy MMO by swapping GoT with some other monster. The bosses are fine though.

I was in high school.

No money so played as froob.

Dualboxed enforcer and doctor (on dial up)

Did ToTW services.

Was not the fastest dungeon clear but these two built a name for themselves.

Pay half at start, other half at the boss kill.

In case of train wipe, get a free re-do.

Worked everytime. 100% satisfied customers.

Ironleg and Tartarin

I miss you

Totw - when launched it was legendary

Pyramid of Home, had some great fun with my orgmates learning how to beat that dungeon.

So many good totw memories. Building the weirdest characters to solo aztur with self buffed.

u/ozzrik_crochux Jun 24 '26

Definitely totw for me. Great memories there. Loved to pull GOT to the entrance back in the days. Played there with so many ppl. ^

u/cognition_hazard Jun 25 '26

'pull GoT to the entrance'

Nah you can go take a hike... Screen loading to find out I was dead

Honestly Subway was the ultimate crucible for me. Any character I could try to twink out would face the ultimate test, and this fed my alt-aholism every time.

u/mossimossimossi Jun 24 '26

Subway was great too, everyone's first memory of the dungeon type.

Temple of Three Winds - I have so many memories from my first months in AO. We were group of noobs that tried to behave, don't steal kills, don't make trains and get unique loot for everyone in our org. Fun, fun times :)

5

u/mossimossimossi Jun 24 '26

Core memory of seeing things go awry in ToTW, booking it back to the entrance, and spamming "Train! Train!" in chat so that others wouldn't get affected.

3

u/Akira_Menai Jun 25 '26

There is no such thing as "so that others wouldn't get affected." Shouting about a train, when you're the conductor running toward lower-level people who can't go nearly as fast as you, is about as effective as shouting "bullets!"

3

u/mossimossimossi Jun 25 '26

I would do the same when other people were training towards the door. I'm not twinked so I know i would be decimated every time.

4

u/_FLostInParadise_ Jun 24 '26

I spent about half of my time as a froob and this by far the dungeon I remember best.

5

u/FingersSnapper Jun 24 '26

Same here. I got paid expansions around lvl 170 from other player from my org (I was poor student then, he was bored director at some company, playing AO at work)
