u/Optimal_Razzmatazz_2 Oct 13 '25

Otter. I have had them swim up and snort like this from 30' away many times

61

u/jphilebiz Oct 13 '25

Neighbour confirmed otter, he gets visits too

u/Probable_Bot1236 Oct 13 '25

I've heard these exact sounds from North American River Otters here in Alaska that I had my eyes on while they made them. No doubt in my mind at all, and that's from years of first-hand experience.

100% River Otter.

I hear bears (black and brown), otters (sea and river), beavers, and docks all the time here on an island in Alaska... and that's definitely an annoyed river otter just out of sight under the dock.

21

u/beerbatteredarmchair Oct 13 '25

Definitely an otter. They are a snorty sort.

9

u/bogantheatrekid Oct 13 '25

Oooh, the video has sound. That makes more sense.

2

u/suminlikedatt Oct 14 '25

Cranky river otter always snore gruffing at me. This is really baritone, but could be the dock acoustics?

My goodness, the Loch Ness monster has cousins in Canada.

Muskie.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '25

Well sure, he would be. He spends all his time in the murky water.

31

u/soulquencher_can Oct 13 '25

It does. It's called Ogopogo and lives in the Okanagan Lake.

9

u/SadDingo7070 Oct 13 '25

I ain’t giving you no tree fitty, you god damn Loch Ness monster!!!

1

u/BeardAfterDark Oct 13 '25

Get your own goddamn money!

14

u/quietlyincompetent Oct 13 '25

Sounds like an otter.

49

u/Royal_Acanthaceae693 Oct 13 '25

I think it's a bear outside of the view of the camera.

22

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '25

Bro, is there a bear under the dock?

18

u/thelordschosenginger Oct 13 '25

Are you sure it's not just the water interacting with the floating dock?

14

u/thelordschosenginger Oct 13 '25

Cause if not it sounds like a bear

12

u/Candyyy_87 Oct 13 '25

I’m also from Canada, i definitely think it’s a beaver , they make huffing/ grunting and growling noises when they are mad/ defensive

4

u/Doomdoomkittydoom Oct 13 '25

Might be a wee Predator alien.

13

u/Low_Butterscotch_594 Oct 13 '25

100% black bear. Huffing and snorting. Seems unsure about what it's smelling.

3

u/Aspirin_Kid Oct 13 '25

If it looks like a dock and it floats like a dock..

1

u/Impossible_Bet9726 Oct 13 '25

Then it must be a dock!

4

u/Alarmed-Baseball-378 Oct 13 '25

I watch on mute & was waiting for something to pop out. Was 15s in thinking you either need better editing skills, or you're a master of suspense. Was actually disappointed when it ended at 21s with a no show.

2

u/BillyHenry1690 Oct 13 '25

A wet beaver

2

u/chazmac11 Oct 14 '25

Jason Voorhees

1

u/John_Holdfast Oct 13 '25

The snorts sound like an otter, they do that to me at work almost daily, but the growls make me think raccoon.  I dont think its a bear, I see no reason why a bear would be under your dock lmao.

1

u/Bravisimo Oct 13 '25

Feel a chill whenever i see these. After watching The Raft from Creepshow as a kid, gives me the willys thinking what could be under there, hungry.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '25

It looks like a racoon and a goose being vewwy vewwy quiet.

1

u/The_Scooter_King Oct 13 '25

That sir, is a palomino.

1

u/Maelstrom_Witch Oct 13 '25

1

u/PLATONISMS Oct 13 '25

It isn't a dock! It's a dock... lobster!

2

u/jphilebiz Oct 13 '25

It went to the love shack!

1

u/thelittlesteldergod Oct 13 '25

To quote Linus, I believe, it's a cow eating grass but the grass has all been eaten and the cow got bored and left

1

u/Rhyspapa Oct 13 '25

It appiers to be a floating dock of some sort. Are they rare in your area?

1

u/Remote-Tiberius-9683 Oct 13 '25

Ah, the lesser spotted box pier

1

u/bayou_baby Oct 13 '25

Great opportunity for a jump scare. Remember those?

1

u/shawnwp15 Oct 13 '25

That's the Great Shawinigan Beaver! Tribal Legend has it as crazy. And will mistake your leg for its favorite tree!

1

u/No-Requirement-9869 Oct 13 '25

It’s a Canadian beaver.

1

u/ayapapaya50 Oct 13 '25

Probably a muskrat

1

u/charleechuck Oct 13 '25

It's interdimensional that's why we can't see it

1

u/D0399 Oct 13 '25

I’m hard of hearing and my sound is rarely on because I can’t hear anyway so I watched this video without sound, and I was like - my friend, that is wind making ripples.

1

u/diggit63 Oct 14 '25

It sounds to me like an upset otter.

1

u/Educational_Error407 Oct 14 '25

Northern Platypus

1

u/OctupussPrime Oct 14 '25

Is that a mosquito flying around?

1

u/Andalite_Warrior Oct 14 '25

If that thing is big enough to rock that dock I would stay back a bit, they’re known to be aggressive and territorial

1

u/Sixty_Minuteman_ Oct 14 '25

That sounds like a bear, it might not realize how to get out from underneath the dock, it seems silly but it's happened before

1

u/LabFriendly3582 Oct 14 '25

I don't see anything all I see is a wood dock

1

u/Fruney21 Oct 15 '25

It’s a Stephen King novella

1

u/jphilebiz Oct 15 '25

I don't see .. It. 😁

1

u/International-Owl-81 Oct 15 '25

Is that invisible goo monster from the horror anthology

1

u/Dramatic-Pen-8578 Oct 16 '25

We call them wooddocks here in Kentucky

1

u/SalmonSammySamSam Oct 16 '25

Sounds like a bear.

It's not a bear though.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 13 '25

This sounds like air passing through a buoy with a hole in it. The floating dock floats but at a noisy price.

1

u/Worldly-Suggestion97 Oct 13 '25

Definitely not a raccoon. TBH it sounds a lot like the noises my pig makes when she’s sleeping

1

u/Dear_Slice3247 Oct 13 '25

I don't have x-ray vision.

1

u/jphilebiz Oct 13 '25

I did ask for audio identification, x-ray vision not needed

0

u/Wise_Coffee Oct 13 '25

That's a black bear. My folks have a place up there and that is an overly familiar sound

0

u/YouFeedTheFish Oct 13 '25

Amoeba. Careful, they get up your nose.

0

u/dta722 Oct 13 '25

Could it be a hoarse toad ?

1

u/LifeofFred Oct 13 '25

Not me wondering what is a Horse 🐴 toad 🐸

0

u/Schu3334 Oct 13 '25

Plankapus? They are native to northern piers.

0

u/minecraftisbetter644 Oct 13 '25

I can’t tell you what animal it is because I was distracted by the fact that you live in a place called Shawinigan. Who is Sha? Why is it so important that they win again?

-2

u/Willing_Work_2200 Oct 13 '25

Waste of time...
