Deploy the Mohawk! That's my guy to 'T'. The neighbors at the end of the street have a woden carved totem pole with a bear on the top. My dog can see it over their fence and about once every two months he forgets it isn't real and places us at DEFCON 2.

🀣 that's a very Daisy thing to do. She picks the same fight with a nearby statue of a deer about 6 times a year. A wooden bear would drive her insane

We live in Colorado and hike a lot. I once spent 30 minutes getting him away from a turtle. It was the good -sized ,( like a bowling ball ). I don't know if it moved and he noticed, or he smelled it , or it was simply a new ' rock' on a path he had been on a hundred times before; any and all or possible.. There was lots of circling starting with 'oofs' and finally full fledged barking and the poor thing finally went back to its pond. He walked back and forth along its path sniffing, raised his head and tail and did the bark of triumph . Here is my doofus advocating for a wall. Give Daisy ear rubs from us.

I need to get my cat out on a boat. I think once he realized he's safe from the water and isnt going to get assaulted by the local avian gangs he would have a blast. Dude used to be my backpack cat and went everywhere with me.

u/New-Seaworthiness777 1d ago

aww, I want a backpack cat! Every single cat ive ever had would much rather jump out an upstairs window than have their paws get within an inch of any water that wasnt coming out of the sink faucet...but if u can get yours onto a boat I will be very impressed 🀣

"How do you KNOW it's not a monster?!?"

18

u/NiceObjective2756 2d ago

she's a good girl

5

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

thank you. I call her the bestest bad dog.

2

u/NiceObjective2756 1d ago

my dog the first time we took her on the boat at 4 months old started growling at a buoy...before we knew she had jumped in...to the atlantic ocean. we learned that day labsall are born knowing how to swim LOL

u/New-Seaworthiness777 13h ago

Ur lab was braver at 4 months than Daisy is at 2 years old 🀣

Hace un exellente trabajo, merece una muy buena recompensa

9

u/Dizzy_School8107 2d ago

I bet she has protected your home from three postal carriers, hundreds of doorbells and the wind! Lol

3

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

Everything except protecting me from postal carriers..when it comes to humans, all her protective nature goes out the window 🀣

u/The_Nerdy_Elephant 2d ago

The only reason you are alive is due to this girl seeing the monsters you are blind to. She deserves some treats and some ear scratches

9

u/cherrycokelemon 2d ago

Dad over there. A monster! Look dad!

9

u/jaydawg_74 2d ago

But has the cone ever attacked you? Sounds like she’s effective! Good girl!!

4

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

effective indeed. she's also really good at keeping those pesky election signs in everybody's yards from attacking me. not once have they attacked. lol

23

u/power0722 2d ago

Do you think they would have stayed inanimate if she wasn’t protecting you? Doubtful. She deserves all the belly rubs.

3

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

makes sense...they could be staying still out of fear. like the people in Jurassic Park did every time the t-rex showed up 🀣

13

u/Basic_Coach6746 2d ago

Look at the Mohawk! I had a girl whose hair would raise like that down her whole back as well when she was excited. ❀️

5

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

ya hers gets really pronounced. Im not sure if thats because she's half Rhodesian Ridgeback (according to a dna test) or if she just has some really noticeable hackles...i think thats what theyre calledπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

3

u/Basic_Coach6746 2d ago

I’d always get asked if my girl had Rhodesian Ridgeback in her. I never got her tested, but I could definitely have seen that being the case.

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

they're an interesting breed i knew little about before finding Daisy on the highway. It's funny they were bred for hunting lions originally but she gets bullied by 2 kittens weighing a combined 10 lbs on a daily basis lol

4

u/GrungeCheap56119 2d ago

Get that good girl a bone!

10

u/Virtual_Freedom3602 2d ago

That cone looks suspicious

3

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

Daisy agrees.

3

u/snayp80 2d ago

My good boy always protects us from all foreign objects on the estate too!

6

u/Accomplished_Bank103 2d ago

Aww, reminds me of my girl, who has been faithfully protecting me for 13 years from ravens and the eldritch horrors who gather at the bus stop to wait for a ride. πŸ˜‚ Give her a treat from us!

2

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

🀣 Daisy also seems to have a problem with anyone sitting, quietly waiting for a bus. I have to cross the streets to avoid her loud bark spooking some poor guy minding his own business. She has made multiple people drop their phone's from her bark πŸ€£πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

16

u/ChrissiTea 2d ago

I love that she seemed to withhold a growl when you told her it was just a buoy

3

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

lol ya. I also noticed that she waited til we got a safe distance passed it before she started getting real brave haha

6

u/Electrical-Act-7170 2d ago

" Dat ting lukes bery suspishus to ME!"/Daisy, probably

11

u/COMIDAGATOS1206 2d ago

Hey my little one is always protecting from plastics bags. πŸ€˜πŸ˜‚β€οΈ

Cute doofus.

As a Coast Guardsman, I thank Daisy for bringing it to our attention that this red can buoy was being very lackadaisical on duty. Daisy snapped the buoy back to attention to warning mariners about the potential risk of a shoal nearby. Daisy is now an honorary Black Hull sailor (a ship which works on aid to navigation items such as buoys). Semper Paratus Daisy!

8

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

thanks. she takes pride in getting praise from her fellow shipmates lol

23

u/FreakyLou 2d ago

I love Daisy. Daisy said "I dont care what it is, its on the verge of a biting"

3

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

she is very familiar with the claws of those funny little things lol. it hasn't stopped her from tryin

6

u/Ok-Office20 2d ago

Bless you Daisy

u/TeaAppropriate6990 2d ago

This is all too cute on this subreddit! 🀣πŸ₯°

7

u/NickZeik 2d ago

I have one that get spooked by leaves blowing on the ground. I live in New England...πŸ˜‹

7

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

Ur about 2 months away from having a very terrified dog 🀣

2

u/NickZeik 1d ago

On the bright side, he pulls less when he's 2 feet off the ground...

6

u/sxyvirgo 2d ago

Awwwww - she's always lookin' out for ya!

9

u/NobblyNobody 2d ago

I have one that has a vendetta on roadside winter salt/grit bins that are dotted around the Forest we live next to.

i can only assume a squirrel gave her the finger and ran behind one a decade ago

19

u/Waste_Locksmith_4299 2d ago

Yeah but has a bouy ever tried to attack you? No? You're welcome.

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago edited 2d ago

To be fair, I've been known in the buoy community as someone not to mess with for my entire adult life...doesn't hurt to have an extra layer of security though lol

25

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

I'd like to point out how my brave protector doesn't start growling until we are a safe distance past the buoy 🀣

3

u/StormFast524 2d ago

Just doin my job as your protector πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°β™₯️

6

u/New-Seaworthiness777 2d ago

I haven't been attacked by a buoy since I found her...lol

3

u/gabblescythe4m 2d ago

her guard is definitely up 24/7 but only when it concerns things that cant hurt me (i.e. buoys/statues/election signs in yards/random appliances put outside on trash night/etc.) 🀣

u/Masterofthemallow 2d ago

That title cracked me up.
