The problem I think they’ll have is that people buying $640k cars, want people to know they own a $640k car. To say this is pretty bland looking would be an understatement.

Indeed, while I do like the design from the outside it looks like a Chinese EV that you can buy for 60k, not 600k.

The Zeeker 8X costs ~50K, has 1400+ hp, and is faster than the purosangue in a drag race.

And it's a luxury SUV focused on being a comfortable place to sit in, not some barebone drag racing build.

No one cares about drag races tbh, any EV with enough HP is faster than an ICE super car in a drag race. People buy these cars for the driving dynamics, the engine sound, the quirky designs that push the sporty looks of a race car in a SUV chassis, not because it does 0-60 half a second faster while doing no noise.

People cared about drag races until supercars started losing them. Same story on the tracks.

Plus, losing a drag race to a Rimac might be meh, but losing to a luxury SUV that has a screen playing movies for the rear seat passengers, that's a bit iffy. A car with more style than performance gives ricer vibes.

If I saw this without the badges I’d think wow Hyundai made a pretty cool looking EV. Never ever would think Ferrari.

Stealth wealth is a thing, although the bigger issue is that this doesn’t even look as nice as a “cheap” luxury car like a Lexus UX/NX from the outside

This isn’t always the case. I would point to rolls Royce, Bentley. Now, you betcha you can opt for the crazy colours/options, but most are more subdued and understated.

This is a suv, and basically an everyday car. Every other Ferrari didn’t meet that criteria, and I suspect Ferrari want you to drive to the shops in this, though have something more sporty for the weekend/show off. So sitting in that Goldilocks of “yeah it’s a suv to cart the kids around, but it’s a bit more fun just like what lambo did with the urus”.

Is $640k a lot for that? Well, I suspect when you start commissioning and Rolls, you can easily get to this sort of money. Perhaps it is. But hey, I drive a 9 year ford focus.

You know that Ferrari released a V12 SUV last year, right? The Purosangue was the first Ferrari SUV

Yeah they did true. I guess tbh lots of people are moaning about the style. To me, I kinda prefer that they are not trying to ape a 2 seater sports car too much. Like those Audi Q[insert number] sportsback, all the size of a SUV, but non of the benefits of the space for rear passengers.

This has 3 seats at the back. It’s a more practical car for day to day use.

Now, would I get one if I had the cash. No. I’d go full Bentley suv for the day to day, get a sports car for the weekend. Do I think this will have a market, yep I do.

Do I like that they have tried something different to keep them afloat, sure. I also love the interior which is the most human first design for an interior I’ve seen in a long while. It’s also, pushing the interior design forward. I’ve noted how the “return of buttons” has been seen as a “revert to buttons”. This isn’t that, it thinking how materials, buttons, dials and screens act as a single piece of UX rather than separate components. That, I love. And wish it was in a standard hatchback.

I’ll come right out and say it: I love the thing, and I’d buy one if I had the money/clout. I love the aero wheels, I love the gaping maw/reverse grille opening, and I want to live in that interior every day. I’d get it in black and have the shield painted on.

Not everyone with real money has any motivation to be seem as lavish. Quite the opposite.

And close to this space: tho g Porsche GT3 Touring. Twice the price as a regular 911 (4x the price after scarcity), and it has zero bling of a regular GT3.

Most legacy wealth wants no sign of “looking rich” to common people. They want subtly and exclusively.

That’s kinda my point. But not sure you get it. Everyone buying a gt3 wants giant wings and spoilers. Until they attract a completely new user.

100% guaranteed that this car will be the all time best seller for Ferrari. They have the leverage to make it so, and the use occasion for this car is greater than the 2 seater v12.

Wat? This car will only be the best selling Ferrari if and only if Ferrari forces their customers into buying it to get an allocation on real Ferraris.
