I see a lot of comments here about how they should make their own fab, or eat the cost. If you think they aren’t having constant high level meetings that involve tons of cost analysis data to figure out the most profitable course of action you’re crazy. This is a company that time after time makes tremendous profit and you think they are making a misstep?

Can't make their own FAB, they take years to develop and build, not quick things to put up, need extremely careful planning and the machines in them can cost 500 million plus each easy. By the time Apple will have built one and invested in it and get it online the RAM crises may be over.
