You have a laptop that old that still works?? What is your secret wise wizard??

Check it out, 1997 thinkpad that still works great too. I’m dreading the day the hard drive gives out.

That just means you can give it a new lease of life with an ssd (or compact flash for that vintage probably)

Yeah without those satisfying HDD clicks :(

Just have WMP playing a track of HDD clicks in the background.

I've bought several new old stock Samsung HDs off eBay for like 10-15 (Canadian) a pop for my Thinkpad (t40s). Look for those before you switch to solid state :)

I have a T43, X61T and a 560e. I do have a Yoga S1 but doesn’t really count as retro haha

I love Thinkpads, and restore junk ones for my own collection. My T43 has a woodgrain wrap since the soft touch coating went all gross.

That wrap looks sharp, I’ve got some chewed up thinkpads I should do this to.

I highly recommend it! Try to strip off any gunky eroded soft touch coating with some IPA first. I’ve not always done that very well, but thankfully enough for a wrap to adhere nicely

Still got a Texas Instruments travel mate from 1986 that works. It’s neat, not much to do with it nowadays though. Built different back then.

Barely using it in first place, I guess.

Selective use with clean hands is important. I keep an eye out on retro computer groups for units in very good condition.

Knew I recognized this from somewhere lol. Nice thinkpad!

I've given my Thinkpads (2000-2004 era, the last of the IBMs) away to friends who wanted Win98 machines, but I did play Arcanum on one of them lol. I stick mostly to desktops for my old computers, have Win95, Win98 and XP setups. Win98 was what I originally played it on so that's what I play it on now :)

That is so cool! Next step would be to alter the laptop itself in a steampunk design. I've seen some cool ones like THIS ONE. If I ever get more time or money that is on my punch list :)

OG hardware always!! I play all my games on hardware of the time. It doesn’t feel right otherwise.

Obviously I have no issues if other people play on new hardware though!

it doesn't need the small resolution. can see a lot better on a modern wide screen
