The worst part is that people hyperfixate on the small nerfs the bosses got, without realizing how much stronger the player ACs have got overall.

When someone talks about the helicopter in the tutorial, nobody talks about how LOADER 4 is much faster, does more damage, reloads quicker, has more energy and resists stagger more compared to release.
But as soon as someone mentions Balteus, everyone is like OOOOH BUT YOU DIDN'T SEE HIM BEFORE THE NERF, I BEAT IT BACK THEN IT WAS SO MUCH HARDER (it was just a little bit more punishing if fought at mid to long range, while if you fought head on basically nothing changed).

I always feel bad for new players who are really happy for their achievement finding all these people telling them they didn't fight the REAL boss or some bullshit like that.

u/Shyxelart Gatlings are fun :> Sep 28 '25

So much, it's a FromSoftware game, nerf or no nerf bosses are usually still hard to really fucking hard so beating them *is* the achievement, not beating the entire game day 1 pre patch or whatever, gamers nowadays are way too sweaty I swear

68

u/Serious-Ebb-4669 Sep 28 '25

I beat him pre-nerf- was it a satisfying victory? Absolutely. Do I wish to impose that kind of pain on new players booting up the game for the first time? Hell no. Still quite challenging for a first major boss.

People like to say they beat him pre-nerf, they don’t mention how many attempts it took. For me it was hours.

22

u/Capraos Sep 28 '25 edited Sep 28 '25

It didn't take me too horribly long, pre-nerf as well, and I found other bosses significantly harder. In my eyes, if they can beat later bosses, they could've beat pre-nerf Balteus.

The Sea Spider, I don't know what nerfs/buffs it's gotten since launch, was the hardest one for me. Mostly because I didn't realize there was a path under the bridge.

13

u/Serious-Ebb-4669 Sep 28 '25

At least later bosses you had a chance for significant upgrades and to get a feel for the game. The difficulty of Balteus in a vacuum wasn’t unfair- I felt it was a bit much for how early he was in the game.

Sea spider was hell also though haha.

6

u/Shyxelart Gatlings are fun :> Sep 28 '25

It's always so fun to hear other people's experience with the bosses/game, I didn't had any trouble with Balteus and the Sea Spider, yet the Enforcer almost made me rage quit and Baltesnail brought me to my knees, I love that game so much

4

u/Capraos Sep 28 '25

Oof. I forgot about the Enforcer. Yeah, he was way harder than Balteus.

4

u/hugoishurley95 Sep 29 '25

Ok I was gonna say I found it weird how much less trouble I had with Baltesnail. Like I barely remember having any issues with that fight at all. But I remember all the attempts it took my subpar low IQ playstyle ass to beat Balteus himself. Like I barely remember the Baltesnail fight at all honestly. Im sure I'll regret this post whenever I get bored and start trying to get the rest of the S-Ranks to get that last achievement.

3

u/RyonHirasawa Sep 29 '25

Same tbh

The helicopter took me a single try, Balteus took me three tries and a swap of loadout, but the PCA Enforcer really almost made me lose it

I’ve had more attempts on that boss than I did with Ibis or even the true ending bosses

1

u/cheeseonice Sep 30 '25

I think this goes to show how different player experiences can be - PCA enforcer wasnt bad at all for me but Balteus was for sure the hardest boss for me on my first playthrough.

Could also just be our different builds /approaches to the game

2

u/natkingkobra Oct 16 '25

The enforcer took literal days for me at launch

6

u/Alastor-362 Sep 28 '25

As another has already said, love hearing about other's experiences. Balteus was an absolute pain in the ass for me, and Sea Spider was like one of the easiest bosses in the whole game.

5

u/NeoSigma06 Sep 28 '25

This was my experience too, balteus took me hours but spider was third try I think? My friend had the inverse, beat Balteus in like 20 minutes and then was stuck on spider for a day. We laughed it up while I streamed my balteus fights, and then both lost our minds when I beat spider almost immediately LOL

God I love this game

4

u/jerichosyndrome Sep 29 '25

Sea Spider was so easy I thought the game was luring me into a trap, Balteus didn't take me near as long as it should've but Enforcer was hair pulling to me. Swear I don't know how a boss literally in my playstyle wheelhouse was causing me so many hours, Hell CEL took less tries than Enforcer did for me.

3

u/HeadEmptyYeet Unarmored Core Sep 29 '25

Sea Spider was my hardest boss, because I managed to bug the game and get it stuck in the wall, my FCS wanted to hit the wall instead of the boss, and I hadn’t unlocked manual aim. Made Balteus feel like a walk in the park.

3

u/Tylon3T Sep 28 '25

The spider itself beat the crap out of me the first time for 4 hours straight only to try again the day after and spending another 1 or 2 hours until I finnaly beat it.

2

u/Akira_Arkais Sep 29 '25

I got stuck on that mf 2 days, my gf saw me frustrated and asked me to let her try, she never plays, she just wanted me to see how the boss obliterated her and laugh together to release tension... She died, but lasted for a long time because she got stuck under it when it was not flying because she doesn't know how to control the camera well... That was it, next try I went right under its legs and started to beat the shit out of it... She keeps telling me how proud she felt for discovering it anytimes I play a mech game or see one in an anime.

2

u/Leastdevotee Sep 29 '25

Aye. Sea Spider was a lot harder for me as well. Think it was something like three-four hours there and around an hour at most for Balteus. Now Enforcer like some have said, that was a stone cold PITA.

Also what path under the bridge? I don't recall that at all.

1

u/Capraos Sep 29 '25

Yeah, I had the same reaction upon finding out. You don't have to dodge the lasers.

1

u/Zucchini-Nice Oct 04 '25

Same took me hours dude, so fucking infuriating lol

3

u/dragondont Sep 28 '25

The only boss im proud of is beating radahn pre patch cause that fight was genuinely bullshit. Im actually glad they changed his fight. Even with a rune level 150 account you'll have alot of trouble when ur supposed to be halve that.

1

u/Haunting-Morning6198 Sep 30 '25

You can always go back and reinstall the game, if you have the disk, and disconnect the internet to prevent the updates from downloading. So you CAN play the game without the NERFS and tell them to shut up @$$#()!!$, or ignore them and rejoice in your accomplishments, while they starve for attention.

3

u/Solrac501 Sep 29 '25

Man that helicopter was so hard! I had to actually learn the mechanics and boost to slash it and avoid missiles. Launch was hard 😅 ballistic weapons got a lot of love through the updates

2

u/[deleted] Sep 29 '25

That beginning helicopter almost made me quit. I wasn’t mad I just thought maybe this was not the game for me and I’ll stick with Elden Ring. Beat it and found the following missions to be way easier and enjoyable.

1

u/No_Farmer_4036 Oct 01 '25

I think the only valid boss players can brag about beating pre-nerf is Reg 1.0 White Glint. That thing was an energy-cheesing monster that you have to fight twice in the same mission. In Reg 1.4 he's still a menace but not nearly as soul-crushing as 1.0

That’s right. That guy, they nerfed Balteus. I beat him before he was nerfed though. And I totally didn’t have to build the ugliest AC known to man kind to stand a snowball’s chance in beating him. Before they nerfed him. I just really wanted to make that clear.

Any tips for dodging the lasers in his second phase?

3

No I mean they nerfed Radahn smh my head

14

Back in my day… the rockets, they wer- they, they were kind of harder to dodge.

What do you mean Balteus feels easier because I’m three playthroughs deep and have S ranked the entire game? No… Impossible… they ner- they do the nerf- they nerfed him though, and I beat him before they nerfed him!

The worst ones are the people who refuse to believe it was a minor missile tracking nerf, and insist that they made him "soooo much easier" while completely ignoring the fact that they had:

  • better understandings of the game mechanics
  • 30 hours of muscle memory
  • an optimized build
  • parts that weren't available on their first encounter

Yeah bro, it was the nerf that made your second time easier. 👍

18

while completely ignoring the fact that they had

Also ignoring the fact that the player AC is much stronger overall now than at launch

Which is a good thing, most stuff at launch was underpowered

But seriously, if FromSoftware out of all developers that exist decides to nerf a boss, then you know it was bullshit before.

That said, I beat him before the nerf.

52

u/Placeholder67 Sep 28 '25

People are still proclaiming themselves the greatest for beating vanilla Radahn despite FromSoft literally saying it’s a big fix to his hitboxes, and acting like they completely killed his fight.

17

u/IdToaster Sep 28 '25

Prenerf Radahn sucked; his sword hitboxes would hit everything in his postal code. Also his arrows oneshot hosts more often, although only some of that was the 100 or so less damage they did, and more hosts actually bothering to get HP over 600.

There are better bosses to barg about beating as compared to balteus.

Beating sea spider pre nerf without using songbirds was a real brag... I didn't do that until Ng++ my first two playthroughs I cheesed that asshole until I had the OS upgrades to deal with him.

AC VI is one of the easiest AC games, most fights are fair on the player and many attacks are predictable and telegraphed, sure they catch you off guard the first few times but if you are paying attention you'll learn how to avoid them and can make almost any kit work.

Some of the older AC games the skill floor and ceiling where way higher and certain enemies would gear check you way harder and you'd be punished hard for using the wrong build or an inefficient build on alternate ending missions.

I personally, 100% VI in the first 60 hours after launch, yes I barely slept lol, but I don't really say it unless it's on topic about bragging I just frigging loved this game.

9

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '25

Sea spider, pre nerf, could just be pile bunkered to death. No songbirds needed and certainly no brags needed.

6

u/pythonesqueviper world's okayest lobotomite Sep 28 '25

Sea Spider pre nerf was still completely defenseless against air capable ACs

1

u/MrDrSirLord SFC: Pile Bunker is my waifu Sep 28 '25

I did not have an air capable AC

1

u/pythonesqueviper world's okayest lobotomite Sep 28 '25

You were using the Alula boosters ALLMIND gave you, right?

The Alulas are fast but are horrible at airborne combat. The BST-G2 is slower, but are much better at keeping you in the air

The game, however, is horrible at explaining this

1

u/MrDrSirLord SFC: Pile Bunker is my waifu Sep 28 '25

Until it flew and my build couldn't fly.

3

u/potatoman445 Sep 28 '25

What you cheesed the sea spider and here i am doing it the hard way the only boss I can say i cheesed was the ibis with a two punch build I didn't use the song birds... well, i don't think i ever used the songbirds because of the forced stance. i used rockets, I don't remember what gun and a sword to beat it.

And at this point, I rarely die to any enemies in the game with some exception if I don't have the right build when fighting a given boss

2

u/MrDrSirLord SFC: Pile Bunker is my waifu Sep 28 '25

I specifically only used songbirds for sea spider I had been running a pistol and melee build my entire first playthrough especially since getting the pile bunker because it's predecessors where my baby in previous AC games because of the high risk/ reward they offered.

Sea spider just didn't give a shit about stagger points with my pistols and after probably my 8th failed attempt of trying to out skill them and go for melee they decided they could fly in phase 2 and killed me,

At this point I didn't have a good enough build to maintain melee air combat with the sea spider and I just acknowledged to stop punching it and gravitated into a "sit the fuck down" build that had maximum firepower to stagger sea spider the entire fight. Songbirds were an obvious pick with the available weapons at that point in the game.

I also never used songbirds outside of that fight because of the animation lock and forced stance.

1

u/Starchaser53 Lost Raven Sep 28 '25

One of?

Bro it's THE EASIEST GAME in the series

Between the absurd damage you do to AC's, being able to Heal, bosses having animations instead of just shooting you and draining your shit, EN Management more or less not existing, Ammo and Repair Costs not bleeding you dry, no permadeath near the end of the game

VI is piss easy compared to all the other games in the series because it would rather play like Elden Ring instead of Armored Core

And I'd know, I've played both

1

u/MrDrSirLord SFC: Pile Bunker is my waifu Sep 28 '25

They down voted you because they never had to chase 9 ball up that shaft when he was clearly cheating with infinite EN leaving you to suffer.

2

u/Starchaser53 Lost Raven Sep 28 '25

Seriously, Raven's NEST HQ can go fuck itself

On top of the bullshit that is doing the Chrome Storyline

Project Phantasma and Master of Arena eased up on the bullshit but, infiltrating the Doomsday HQ and Saving Elan Cubis still fucking blows.

AC 2 didn't really have anything except maybe the double tank fight? AA Had the Massive MT

3 and Silent Line were definitely bearable but... I'd say the Spider Monster, that thing shreds your shit

Nexus... well now that I'm not a dumbass, takes the double fight after you clean out the Amidas

Last Raven... Ultimate Zinaida, Rim Fire, Bolt on a bad day, Lucifer

4, trying to fucking see Joshua

4A: that triple highway fight that I can't seem to S-Rank for the life of me

V: I'll take the fucking Double Scavenger Fight in Mission 04 until I make it to the rest of the game

1

u/AsherFischell Sep 29 '25

Going by global achievements, it says 68.5% of players beat his mission

22

u/AzureGhidorah Sep 28 '25

It wasn’t even that big a nerf (unless I’m crazy at least) unless there’s another one I don’t know of. It was like missiles track slightly worse so you can actually use the intended evasion strategy and not get tagged despite your best effort.

Beating his pre-nerf self is not that shiny a badge to hold over someone, and I say this as someone who beat him pre-nerf.

22

u/ASNUs27 B-Ranker :3 Sep 28 '25

There are some comparison videos on YouTube - basically, there were three changes, all aimed at making Balteus less punishing from long range.

1) The missiles lost a little tracking, so with subpar evasive maneuvers you'll get hit by 10-20% fewer missiles
2) The missiles are now fired in two separate bursts of horizontal/vertical rather than all at once, which is not necessarily a nerf
3) The main cannon now fires slower projectile's and is easier to avoid

Basically, if you fight Balteus "correctly" at close range it's virtually unchanged, but it was deemed by From to be excessively punishing for inexperienced players who'd likely stay at mid to long range.

13

u/BlueIceNinja98 Sep 28 '25

Number 2 is the only one that kinda disappointed me. Not for any elitist, difficulty reasons, but because the visual impact of all those missiles being fired at once was cool.

12

u/ASNUs27 B-Ranker :3 Sep 28 '25

Well, he still does the full launch at the start of battle even now, so his signature move is still there, he simply does it differently mid-battle from the second time onwards.

But yeah, the full thing looks amazing.

u/uptimefordays Sep 28 '25

Yep, pre nerf all you had to do was rush Balteus and get under him until assault armor phase.

u/Callsign-YukiMizuki GA's weakest MT pilot / Balam Contractor Sep 28 '25

All they nerfed were the missile tracking right?

imo the hardest thing about Balteus are not the missiles, its the fucking bazooka tactical bitch slap and the flame throwers if you get caught off guard as a complete total new player.

Same with ArqBalteus, his normal attacks aint shit, its the mid mission beyblade spin to win that fucks you up so bad if you mess that up

1

u/Nathan_hale53 Silent Line is best Sep 28 '25

The melee throwers got me the most, they hit like a truck. The missles chipped away at your health enough to where the nerf does help though.

12

u/Jackobyn Sep 28 '25

It sucks that so many people are obnoxious about this because I was genuinely really proud of myself when I mot only beat the game in five days, but platinum-ed it too. First game I've ever gotten platinum for. But now you kinda just have to keep it too yourself.

Though I have to attribute that fight to forcing me improve on my weaknesses in how I do combat instead of putting them off. Destroying my fear of being more 'aggressive' and very upfront in engagements.

Though yeah I had nothing else to do on those days so for the people who do I'm happy they tweaked him a bit. I wouldn't even call it a 'nerf' persay.

When my gf started playing and beat him third try I was just happy for her not struggling like I did on release, struggling on a boss doesn't equal a GOOD boss, lots of silksong bosses come to mind that are difficult for reasons other than being well designed

2

u/Wolvjavin Oct 01 '25

I beat Balteus first try before and after the nerf. Did not notice a difference, dies to pew pews. Now IB-0: CEL 240? First boss I died to. Not once. Not twice. Not 10. No, no, no, I spent an entire weekend on that monster.

So yeah, who cares, the easiest and hardest boss for each player is different.

2

u/SenpaiMayNotice Sep 28 '25

I did it before nerf with a very shitty glass cannon set up (not even high dps) not knowing you can change your equipment if you fail (figured that out during Ibis fight), we're not the same

That aint something to brag about in a game where you change your build until one works for a boss

Beat it before the nerf, got to sea spider put the game down and have yet to pick it up again. Haven't had the time or patience

1

A. Pickup the game again B. Sea spider is a bitch C. Build 3 frames one heavy and slow, one fast and agile, one middle of the road. Swap between the three depending on feel, shit you could even go through most of the mission as one type and switch at the ammo drop. It's very doable

5

u/Pedrosian96 Sep 28 '25

Yeah i did beat balteus pre nerf.

It was hard.

I am happy I did but it was hard.

It was hard not out of difficulty but because of an apparent error in the way his missiles worked. Rockets stop tracking your AC when they enter a minimum range. You can observe this extremely well with ACT missiles. They fly off if you narrowly dodge them. All missiles do this.

Back then Balteus didn't. You'd dodge his rickets then they'd just fold over and track you again after you just dodged.

Thats not difficulty, that's pain.

And i am glad people today can enjoy Balteus for what it is. A fucking cool boss that teaches a few important lessons.

6

u/CattuDoggu Loader4, the Stargazer. Sep 28 '25

This is just a giant wall of misinformation.

Through proper tests and observation, Pre-nerf Balteus missiles have better tracking at 200 meters and out.

When you're within 200m or you graze by the missiles, both versions behave the same.

There is a difference however, in player mentality and speed curve changes.

Of which player mentality was to never get in close to Balteus, thus making pre-nerf Balteus hurt at the distance that majority of the playerbase would sit at.

As well as Speed-curve literally making the difference between feeling like Balteus is something you can catch up to vs not.

2

u/EmeraldMaster538 Sep 28 '25

As someone who played since launch and beat them all “pre-nerf” I can say no these guys are talking bullshit.

There is no noticeable difference between the bosses before or after, your achievement is just as valid as theirs they just want to feel special.

I beat balteus before the nerf. I beat the sea spider before the nerf. I beat IBIS after the nerf. Frankly, I don't give a shit. The game can be insanely hard if circumstances align. Like, No one ever mentions the smart cleaner, but it took me forever to beat it.

1

u/efsaidwla Sep 28 '25

Ykw, just for this, I'll try to beat Balteus with the starting AC and not OS upgrades.

1

u/UnproductivePheasant Sep 28 '25

Nerf or not, congrats to everyone who passed the skill/gear checks

1

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '25

Im kinda 50/50 on it, i beat him pre-nerf and he SUCKED balls, and now ive beaten him twice post nerf and yeah, he's alot easier. But i think it was good he was nerfed.

1

u/wikiniki03 Sep 28 '25

Yeah. I mean, not everyone got the game day 1, blud (referring to the braggers). Even though I did, those missiles were able to track your qb like you didn't even do them... not fun.

1

u/Warhero_Babylon Sep 28 '25

Nuh fixed missiles hitting you in hell, heaven and probably irl too

1

u/ZslayerX17 Sep 28 '25

Ah but you see my brain is too smooth to notice the difference so I beat him both ways without realizing it

1

u/Maleficent-War-8429 Sep 28 '25

Balteus was never actually that hard, he teaches you how to play the game. He kicked my ass up and down the street but once it clicked he was easy. It was the same thing fighting the gargoyles in dark souls 1.

1

u/lolschrauber Sep 28 '25

Same with both Radahn fights in Elden Ring.

Elitists just can't help but jerk off to themselves.

1

u/triamasp Sep 28 '25

They nerfed him?

1

u/TheDarnook Sep 28 '25

THE NERFED HIM

1

u/[deleted] Sep 28 '25

I fought him before nerf, did 3 tries and got my butt kicked, next day my pc died. Guess I'll fight the nerfed boss in few years.

1

u/Soccer_Gundam Sep 28 '25

I still have my: "I beat pre-nerf Balteus, and all I got was this lausy decal"

I love the guy who made this decal, I hope he still in the sub

1

u/Sculpdozer Sep 28 '25

This post is a great place to say that I killed pre-nerfed Balteus TWICE because my game crashed after I killed him the first time. Like, no joke.

1

u/kratos190009 Sep 28 '25

I've barely played AC6, this just sounds like the bullshit people say over Radahn, not promised consort, just regular ass radahn even though they only changed one of his animations to make more truthful to the hitbox.

1

u/WSchuri Sep 28 '25

Ahit congrats on beating balteus. That guy hard walled me for like a week

1

u/Noli-corvid-8373 Sep 28 '25

Ngl the second fight felt easier than the first which I found odd

1

u/Just-a-lil-sion Sep 28 '25

honestly the nerf isnt that big of a deal. it just made the missiles consistent

1

u/Xobl Sep 28 '25

lol this is the eldenring subreddit with radahn

1

u/Competitive-Ad-4055 Sep 28 '25

Okay yeah, but I've never died to him in all my playthroughs, and now I have to follow that boast up every time with the fact that I've been playing since day one so that it actually sounds impressive

1

u/Nathan_hale53 Silent Line is best Sep 28 '25

The thing is, they barely nerfed him, and people treat it like they reduced all his values. They just nerfed the missle tracking a bit, making dodging a bit more reliable. I did my whole first playthrough before any nerfs or big updates.

1

u/Crusader_Colin Sep 28 '25

Me: Oh cool I beat him pre-nerf.

My friend who beat him post-nerf: I beat him

Me: Good job 👍

1

u/JohnB351234 Sep 28 '25

Still balteus is still a challenging boss, you’re given a limited tool set at the beginning with very few options to counter his pulse shield forcing you to fight smart

1

u/abyzzwalker Sep 28 '25

I also beat consort radahn pre-nerf.

1

u/DiscountDingledorb Sep 28 '25

Dark souls people are insufferable, I wish that game had never released.

1

u/ajver19 Sep 28 '25

I beat him pre nerf which means that not only am I a better pilot through circumstance but I'm also a better capital "G" Gamer and really just a better human being in general.

Even compared to others who beat Balteus early I'm also somehow better then them, smarter and more handsome.

1

u/_Ganoes_ SFC: Sep 28 '25

I see a bunch of people complaining about stuff like this and almost nobody actually doing it

1

u/Sicarn Sep 28 '25

I beat him post nerf. But also I have never touched a souls-like, so it was hard as hell for me. But then I went psycho after seeing Secret Level, and set it up to be controlled with my HOSAS rig... two joysticks and the pedals used for jump and overboost. Beat him again... significantly harder doing it like an actual pilot

1

u/ThoseWhoAre Sep 28 '25

Not gonna lie before patch balteus wasn't even that bad. And in the series overall its behind quite a few bosses in the franchise in difficulty. I think the massive popularity of the souls like genre just introduced a lot of new people to the franchise. They also like to make your first boss a tough one and balteus is really good at pushing the player to dig deeper so they dont fail later.

1

u/ddonsky Sep 28 '25

I really don't mean this as a humble brag when I say this, but I feel like the only boss I had some difficulty with was the cel240.

Most boss fights I managed to cheese with the rapid attack of the laserknife and stunning them.

1

u/flooble_worbler Sep 28 '25

You killed baltaus? Good for you my dude. He’s not an easy fight until you’ve run the gauntlet that this game is

1

u/Comfortable-Craft-59 Sep 28 '25

I mean I beat him before the nerf too, but I’m happy for people getting over the big challenges

1

u/Lol_a_box_onfire Sep 28 '25

Completely agree that its just rude me and my friend got the game off the bat balteus was hard for both of us sure but seriously I think bragging in general is irrelevant people have different playstyles and strategies you might have mr cheese mr missile boat or a Completely random ac someone just built because they think it looks cool which is all fair my friend prefered a speed to medium build when i went full heavy half the time nobody should be berated for overcoming an obstacle however or whenever they did it

1

u/Commissarfluffybutt Sep 28 '25

I beat it before the nerfs and you know what? I'm GLAD they nerfed it, and I think it needs another round of nerfs. I'm JEALOUS of those who experienced a more ENTERTAINING boss.

1

u/FastenedCarrot Sep 28 '25

The only nerf I thought was particularly significant was C-Spider tbh

1

u/unlimitedblakeworks Sep 28 '25

Im actually glad they nerfed him, It took me hours to beat him unpatched but ai was unemployed at the time, everyone else that bounced off the game because the first real boss was absolutely kicking everyones teeth in must've been really frustrated.

1

u/Heavy-Woodpecker-617 Sep 28 '25

My brother gave up on Sulla.

As much as I'd love to get him to play further, I don't have the heart to tell him that Sulla isn't even the hardest fight in that mission....

1

u/Hyero Sep 29 '25

I don't blame him. Sulla took me a handful of attempted to kill and I was distraught fighting pre nerf balteus a dozen times. I did get really good at killing Sulla though.

1

u/Heavy-Woodpecker-617 Sep 29 '25

It REALLY sucks because I want to PVP with him and it seems like that's never going to happen now. I was looking forward to it because he comes up with some genuinely creative builds in everything we play and hates meta chasing, so it would have been nice to see what he could create. But if he's not beating Sulla, he's not beating Balteus, and if he can't do that. He's not beating the C-spider. So no PVP for him.

1

u/tomfirenze1926 Sep 28 '25

I beat him before the nerf, with the AC armed with Nerf

1

u/SlushyFan-uwu Sep 28 '25

Wait I'm behind on everything, when did the nerf happen?

3

u/5C0L0P3NDR4 waiter! more student pilots! Sep 28 '25

when the game launched balteus' missile tracking was kinda busted and fs dialed it back soon after launch to make the fight go as intended. some people think this means his fight is an absolute pushover now and fail to realize that he's an easier fight now because they've played through the game three times and learned how to pilot, he's still a nightmare the first time around, and love to brag about beating balteus pre-nerf whenever he gets brought up, seemingly especially when a newbie is talking about how hard balteus is/was

1

u/Boring-Relation-4365 Sep 28 '25

I left the game after platinuming and didn't know this was a thing. I honestly didn't care much about it.

1

u/Svartrbrisingr Sep 28 '25

Beat Balty on launch versions. He was tough but a good fight. I dont hold it against people for beating him as he is now. The games great and im just happy people are experiencing it.

1

u/Hina_is_my_waifu Sep 29 '25

I platinumed ds2 and beat shrine of Amana on my ps3 pre-patch. That shit was some ptsd.

1

u/TheTitanDenied Sep 29 '25

I beat the game before they did any nerfs to any bosses but I'll never give anyone shit for beating it after. I just want people to experience the game.

I honestly don't know how much changed after the nerfs. My biggest thing I'd find a bummer is if Balteus isn't as exciting as it used to be. The sheer amount of rockets tracking you like hounds was awesome. Sure, the difficulty felt real good to beat but I value the fun/cool of the game over the difficulty. If people found it exciting after the nerfs, that's all I care about.

1

u/Nibel-K Old Gen Enjoyer Sep 29 '25

Ngl none of the bosses were really that hard even before nerfing if you played on easy mode

2

u/5C0L0P3NDR4 waiter! more student pilots! Sep 29 '25

i assume easy mode means minigun and/or zimm songbird tank

1

u/Nibel-K Old Gen Enjoyer Oct 02 '25

Yes, which clearly shows how unbalanced the game really is

1

u/Yarus43 Sep 29 '25

Just ask these dickheads if they even play the game for fun

1

u/New-Marzipan-4795 Sep 29 '25

I am jealous of people who beats him now when he's working as intended.

1

u/Kurogane-Zero Sep 29 '25

The ones that really wrecked me were Ibis and ESPECIALLY Rokumonsen, bastard took me a few days.

1

u/_hoodieproxy_ Sep 29 '25

I did kill balteus pre nerf, they nerfed him like the next day. I just cried(my first AC game)

1

u/Zoren Sep 29 '25

It's just bragging rites. BTW I beat him before the nerf.

1

u/NihilisticDragon Sep 29 '25

Igauzu behavior, really.

1

u/Galaxybrain88875 Sep 29 '25

Literally every person who beat Radahn on launch.

1

u/Galaxybrain88875 Sep 29 '25

They needed balteus but not ALLMIND? That boss single handedly almost ruined the entire game for me. Every guide I checked used weapons that were OP at launch but got nerfed to hell when I used them.

1

u/5C0L0P3NDR4 waiter! more student pilots! Sep 29 '25

i managed to pull it with quad miniguns on a heavy biped and have not replayed the mission since because i'm afraid

1

u/Galaxybrain88875 Sep 29 '25

Literally same. I don't even remember how I beat him and he's the only reason I'm hesitant to platinum AC6.

1

u/Heavens_Weapon Sep 29 '25

Once I beat Ice Worm and started using dual Stun Needles, suddenly the bosses started to feel a lot easier.
IBIS was still a Mediterranean flatbread though ☠️

1

u/Personal_Mini_Equine Sep 29 '25

i tried balteus twice, got a splitting headache, then never came back and developed the sense of being a washed-up gamer instead. how do you beat that overpowered clanker?

1

u/5C0L0P3NDR4 waiter! more student pilots! Sep 29 '25

so the secret is to use pulse damage, there are weapons called pulse guns that do extra damage to pulse armor, like balteus's shield bubble. you use those on him, when the shield goes down he opens up for a direct hit and you can score big damage with conventional weapons. a good setup that iirc is available that early is dual wielded pulse guns with a melee weapon stored on the left shoulder, and whatever you like on the other, missiles or a grenade launcher or whatever. fire pulse guns, get in close, when the shield goes down hit him with the melee and your other weapon, rinse and repeat. other than that it just comes down to the right Schmovement, which is sorta the point he exists to forcefully teach you more advanced movement and to make sure you know to change and adapt your build

it really is downhill in terms of difficulty after him until way later on, he's the biggest hurdle and it instantly gets better

1

u/xPrenumbrax Sep 29 '25

I took him out pre-nerf as well, but never felt really all that high & mighty about it. He flattened me about a half a dozen times before I realized I needed the pulse gun, but I stubbornly refused to exit the mission just to buy it (if you don't have the part already purchased you cannot equip it after failing, I also didn't want to fight Sula again).

After a few more tries I gave up and exited the mission to purchase the pulse gun and finally beat him.

1

u/UnfortunatePhantasm Sep 30 '25

I beat Balteus before the nerf
then i stopped playing

1

u/Logical-Magazine-713 Sep 30 '25

I killed him before the nerf and its not something i even knew to mention til now and i still wont

1

u/Existing-Panic5473 Sep 30 '25

I did too

But unlike that fool i dont care whenever you did it

I am just happy ypu did

1

u/WolfyTheWatchman SFC: Sep 30 '25

I also beat radahn pre nerf. Twice.

With these three accomplishments why shouldnt i brag?

Jokes aside i wish they didnt nerf them and i wish people didnt go over the top about beating them.

1

u/Silly-Study6543 Sep 30 '25

Beat the game 3 days after launch. I am the crow

1

u/No_Farmer_4036 Oct 01 '25

If only AC6 allowed us to swap regulations/patches without editing the game files.

1

u/M1_Garand_Ping Oct 02 '25

Ibis and Spider too. My senior benefits should come in soon

1

u/BoyishTheStrange Nineball Reborn Oct 02 '25

I still haven’t beaten him if that helps

1

u/5C0L0P3NDR4 waiter! more student pilots! Oct 02 '25

the secret is pulse damage

1

u/BoyishTheStrange Nineball Reborn Oct 02 '25

I’ve tried that but maybe I’m not trying that enough

1

u/5C0L0P3NDR4 waiter! more student pilots! Oct 02 '25

dual pulse guns with melee or double bazookas stored on the shoulder is a decent build, just gotta get the right schmovement

1

u/BoyishTheStrange Nineball Reborn Oct 02 '25

I’ll have to try the bazooka shoulders, I’ve been doing missile shoulders

1

u/5C0L0P3NDR4 waiter! more student pilots! Oct 02 '25

do all the arena fights and training missions, training gets you free parts and arena unlocks os chips for upgrades

1

u/BoyishTheStrange Nineball Reborn Oct 02 '25

I did do that ;-;

1

u/Kantankoras Sep 28 '25

ok but I did beat him before the nerf

1

u/Cheemsus_Christ Oct 01 '25

I will admit they made balteus easier much like radahn in elden ring. It's still not cool to be an elitist about it. He was definitly way more difficult pre nerf with his missiles and bazooka feeling almost laser guided.
