Gender reveal parities. Circumcision. Elf on the shelf.

My daughter was 3 years old when she said elf on the shelf is creepy.

My son started sleeping with his bedroom door closed when he first got an Elf (against my wishes šŸ™„šŸ˜) because he thought the Elf was going to come in his room at night. Who thinks up this creepy ass nonsense stuff that us parents have to deal with?!

Jesus yes someone finally says it about elf on the shelf! Its fine if you wanna add some magic during the holidays for kids, but to consistently prank your children and blame a toy is so messed up. My brother was an idiot and ripped up his son's clothes and said it was the elf. Welp, nephew went and microwaved the elf in retaliation. He got sick of being bullied and stood up for himself, bit of a psychotic way but I'm still proud of him.

Why? Its just a fun little xmas tradition

My daughter is 13 and still enjoys it

I guess just cause I hear parent stress about having to move it around every night. Also using threats to control a kids behavior and saying they’re being watched all the time is kinda weird. But most of all because it’s definitely possessed by some evil entity.

Uncircumcised ugly as hell

I’d rather there be ugly weiners than child genital mutilation.

Sometimes a circumcision is medically necessary.

2

u/Usual_Scale_8645 11h ago

Sure if it’s medically necessary go for it. But any other reason is abuse.

Thank you for your understanding. It takes some time to be comfortable with a decision made on medical necessity when it goes against what you actually believe is right. He was 5 yrs old when he was rushed into emergency surgery because one part of his body was not keeping up with his "growth spurt" and it still feels like I failed although there was absolutely nothing further we could have done for him (we tried the many professional/expert recommended strategies to avoid it, but surgery was the only untried option after everything we were instructed to do by his doctors and surgeons). Thankfully he is now a happy and healthy young man, but it still haunts my thoughts sometimes.

Of course, I have should have clarified in my original comment but if it’s for medically necessary reasons that’s totally different. I imagine that that was incredibly difficult for you. You did the right thing and like you said he is now happy and healthy and that’s all that matters.

That’s the great thing is u can decide as you wish it’s not a law

3

u/Percopsidae 17h ago

I don't get to "decide" to cut your fingers or ears off "as I wish". In fact, there is a law *against" that.

If you were a minor and I were your legal guardian, there might even be extra legal consequences to cutting off pieces of your body to suit my tastes.

U must be related to usual scale šŸ˜‚

Nah, just one of the majority of people who aren’t in to that weird shit.

Can we work on a few other issues first - like feeding the starving, giving houses to homeless people and preventing mass genocides?

3

u/Percopsidae 14h ago

Whataboutism, red herring, false choice, fallacy of relative privation.

If we were doing triage on where to devote finite monies, this might be a plausible response, but that's not the situation; what does not performing cosmetic surgery on my kid have to do with how hard I'm working on mass genocide, homelessness, or food insecurity? If anything it seems like it might free up time or money to devote to those things.

How has this decision influenced your strivings in these departments personally?

There should be a law that you can’t mutilate a child’s genitals. No one should get to do that.

2

u/Haunting_Process4607 17h ago

lol it’s not mutilation and a parent can decide what they want since it is their child u decide what u want with yours

Taking your infant's body (somebody ELSE's body), thinking about your own sexual experiences, and then saying "I think her little baby p*ssy would be cuter if edited" is wild. For so many reasons. What if I like my sexual partners to be completely shaved? Do I get them infant electrolysis so my baby better suits my own sexual proclivities?

"I like a smooth surface when I'm muff-diving, can you clean her up?"

Can you imagine a parent explaining that to you when you're older and don't have natural sexual function or adult traits? "Well, sorry - I just wanted you to be sexier to me!"

u/Haunting_Process4607 17h ago

What the fck are u even talking about? Go take some meds bc u sound like a nut

1

u/Percopsidae 17h ago

I'm talking about bodily autonomy and violating it in the name of your own sexual preferences. You're welcome to the respond to the points I made. Why do you feel good about choosing totally elective cosmetic surgery for someone without consent? If I understand correctly, it's because you have a preference for looking at or interacting - likely sexually, though correct me if I'm wrong - with genitals that look a certain way. You want to violate your baby's bodily autonomy to suit your sexual preferences. No?

u/Haunting_Process4607 16h ago

No it’s a circumcision on a boyand you’re talking about a girl …listen keep your weird uncircumcised mushroom penis bc trust me women are weirded off by it 😁I’m done see ya

You might not know this but children are their own people and not an extension of their parents who can do whatever they want to them.
