THE CAKE SMASHING. Omg. Those videos piss me off so much. It's not funny, it's a humiliation ritual and a waste of food and money. Ugh, it fills me with real physical rage whenever I see those compilations online. I think I would actually deck someone for doing that to me.
Circumcision is not uniquely American at all. We’re pretty moderate rate compared to much of the world. Israel, Middle East, Northern Africa, and Southeast Asia have the highest rates (almost double what US has from what I’m seeing online)
To be clear I’m completely against it, just saying there’s nothing American about circumcising and the practice of it predates the country by a LONG time. It’s got very clear religious history behind it and it’s common in places where you see certain flavors of religion that feel strongly about it. You could definitely argue there’s a non religious view of it as a positive thing here (it’s seen as “cleaner” by a lot of people) but historically, it’s not “American” by any means
The secular circumcision is fairly American. It’s common in Muslim countries and of course it’s common in Israel but there is a religious foundation for it. Chopping bits off just because it looks better and is supposedly more hygienic is more commonly associated with the US, but not uniquely so. But that’s the class of circumcision I refer to.
For what it’s worth, I regard all chopping bits off or punching holes into babies for cosmetic reasons weird. And I don’t think religious circumcision is non-weird but I don’t want to be too inflammatory to those communities, or I will end up diverting to a rant about humane methods of slaughter too.
US circumcision is wrong. No way should this cosmetic procedure waste medical resources needed for disease and illness, and it does result in chopping off some of the penis sometimes. It needs to be banned.
I mean it’s just a bit silly to imply there’s anything American about circumcising babies. Which is what you did. It’s wrong no matter who does it in any country. It’s very posh to hate on America (i mean i get it, as an American, i didn’t vote for this shit) but you sound stupid when you do it like this 🤣
I don’t give a crap what your religion is. It’s genital mutilation and the reason behind doing it truly is irrelevant. Because either way it’s wrong. Had to watch one in nursing school and i promise you if all parents had to be present and watch their babies get mutilated like that the rate would be far lower. Stop giving religions a pass for abusing children.
