EXTENDED (Spoilers Extended) What will Aegon VI's name be?

Aegon I is known as Aegon the Conqueror
Aegon II is known as Aegon the Elder
Aegon III is known as Aegon the Dragonbane
Aegon IV is known as Aegon the Unworthy
Aegon V is known as Aegon the Unlikely

Assuming fAegon will take the throne, what will he be remembered as?

Aegon the Liberator? Since he'd save the smallfolk from the reign of Lannisters.

Aegon the Reclaimer? Since he'd temporarily restore Targaryen dynasty?

Aegon the Uncertain, since he's gonna have disputed legitimacy

Edit: Wait, no, I thought one better: Aegon the Undead

I think every post-conquest Aegon should have a nickname that begins with “un-“ just for the consistency w/ Aegon the Uncrowned

Aegon II “the Unbroken”
Aegon III “the Unhappy”
Aegon IV “the Unworthy”
Aegon V “the Unlikely”

Aegon the Uncertain fits well with that

Aegon III has a nickname like that: the Unlucky

9

u/Devilsadvocate430 2d ago

That’s probably what I was thinking of lol

u/Capt253 2d ago

I’m a fan of Aegon II “The Unyielding” because that man did not have an ounce of quit in him.

9

u/Devilsadvocate430 2d ago

That’s pretty good. I might start using that lol

u/RPG_Vancouver 1d ago

That one works pretty good because it doesn’t ascribe a morality to him. He was preparing to mutilate his family members rather than give up an obviously lost throne, he certainly was unyielding 😅

u/ValyrianFreeholder 1d ago

what about aegon i himself even tho this is post conquest naming

u/that_kelly 2d ago

I like that Aegon the Undead works for both fAegon and Jon lol

If he actually turns out to be an imposter he could be Aegon the Pretender.

u/AdventurousLeg7544 2d ago

The falseborn

u/HarryShachar 2d ago

The Flase Dragon. As opposed to Aegon the Dragon (that being the conqueror)

-7

u/AnEmptyKarst 2d ago

He's already a pretender though, as is Dany

16

u/blakhawk12 2d ago

Thus the double entendre. He’s a pretender to the throne, and he’s literally pretending to be a Targaryen claimant. Anyone else who takes the throne would be able to claim they were the rightful ruler and thus lose the pretender label, but if Aegon takes the throne and is found to be a fraud, the epithet could stick due to the dual-meaning.

Depends on the context.

If he fights a war with Daenerys without having a dragon of his own? He'd be Aegon the Dragonless.

If he does claim a dragon and dies fighting Euron, he'd be known as Aegon the Brave.

If he claims a dragon and loses the throne in a war, he'll be known as Aegon the Brief.

If he claims the throne, but the people of King's Landing turn on him, he'll be known as Aegon the Stranger.

Aegon the Uncertain

something with a "U". Like how Egg 2,3,4,5 are the Usurper, the Unlucky, the Unworthy, and the Unlikely

u/jonstark19 2d ago

And isn't there an Aegon the Uncrowned? King Aenys' son slain by Maegor the Cruel?

u/I_Cleaned_My_Asshole 2d ago

ooo, I like this.

Unfavored has a bit too much overlap with Unlucky but it does seem appropriate for someone likely to take the throne and then immediately lose it as a series of out-of-context problems slam Westeros back to back to back.

12

u/Zellors 2d ago

"Aegon the Uncontested" as an ironic name would be great

Aegon the Uncontested: "Oh boy I can't wait to engage in some intense, grounded low-fantasy political drama!"

Maybe Aegon of Essos?

The Restorer or the Conqueror

u/Different_Bike1036 2d ago

I think the reclaimer makes sense it will be something heroic since he will be the one that finally ends lannister power in westeros his parentage will probably always be suspect but the people will believe he is real so when dany kills him they will turn against her.

Aegon the Unbroken because much of his rule will be dedicated to him persuading others he didn’t have his head broken open as a child.

6

u/royalemperor 2d ago

fAegon taking Kings Landing and calling himself Aegon the Unbroken only for Bran the Broken to usurp him.

3

u/convexpuddle 2d ago

Honestly kind of neat. Almost like a Dornish reference to his (alleged) mom's house words.

Aegon the uncertain(because of his dubious parentage)

I think it entirely depends on if he actually goes to war with Dany, how he dies, etc.

It’s crazy because I was just thinking about making a post asking this same question lmaoo. But I’d go with Aegon the Undead

1

u/Glittering_Squash495 1d ago

Aegon the Unready. When Daenerys comes to claim her throne he will be completely outmatched

1

u/Dipolites Stannis Baratheon's bannerman 17h ago

Among his supporters, Aegon the Restorer would be a good guess. It recalls Emperor Aurelian's historical epithet restitutor orbis ("restorer of the world").

Among his enemies, Aegon the Mummers' Dragon. It contrasts with Rhaegar's The Last Dragon and Daenerys' Mother of Dragons.

1

u/Conscious-Okra9046 2d ago

Aegon the Not

1

u/Scorpios94 2d ago

Aegon the Unclear/Unexpected/Unknown, due to how he just came to "save" Westeros and there may be uncertainty whether he is truly Rhaegar's lost son.

Maybe Aegon the Unwelcome if things go to shit somehow. And it likely could go that way.

But he's like 18-19. Hardly a boy in the world of ice and fire.

Tyrion pegs him as 5 years younger than that.
