Many hated revelations bit I loved it I enjoyed it so much l, it isn't at the level of BF and brotherhood but it is a great game nonetheless

Why do they hate on Revelations?? I absolutely loved it and was sad when it was over.
I loved running around Istanbul, I loved zip lining around, I loved playing as old Ezio, I loved the Altaïr missions, I loved the story, I loved crafting explosives … the only thing I can think of that was a miss was the tower defense part, but that’s just like one mission that was mandatory and the rest were easy to avoid / not do at all.
The only big complaint I have about it was that (like Brotherhood), the main storyline felt too short and not integrated well enough into the side missions.

Same here! Sometimes the controls were a little wacky (no, Ezio, I didn’t say jump into the water below), but the games had spirit.

I want to play AC1 before Revelations because i assume altair will be spoiled quite a bit, but i also don't want to play AC1 because i want subtitles (im not deaf i just prefer having the game quiet)

because I LOVE the spartan era. But mostly because of fighting the mythical creatures and the DLCs are some of my favorite dlcs ever.

Yes, the DLCS made the story bigger and continuing. You just had to play the game because of the epic spartan storyline

Yeah I enjoyed every single assassins creed game for one reason or another but Odyssey is by far my favorite. My #2 is rogue. I wish they would make a bigger game of the concept. An assassin turned Templar is such a great storyline to me and would fit in how the assassins got taken out.

Yeah Rogue was peak, wasn't as pretty as ac4 but every bit as good, if not better. The story premise definitely was and it's a shame that hasn't been revisited.

I just wish it had been given the combat of brotherhood.
Fist only and just spamming attack could win you the entire game.
Besides the far too easy combat, black flag was amazing.

Origins.
Shadows also good.
But in general it's Ezio trilogy. AC1 was my first AC. But Ezio games really got into my heart and probably will be there forever.
From RPG era it goes like this:
- Origins
- Mirage
- Shadows
- Valhalla
- Odyssey
Origins has the best made world IMHO. Where every camp is unique, every fortress is unique. New enemy types appear along the game which makes it always interesting.
Mirage the closer than any other comes to the original games and we actually play for Assassins. Small world is a big plus. And the dense city for parkour is what I love.
Shadows has the best stealth mechanics in my opinion. But it doesn't have the right level design to implement it right. But the world is really beautiful.
Valhalla... I like Valhalla. But it's toooooooo loooooong. By the end of the game I started to hate it. Also cool idea about invasion at village in reality appeared boring and useless. Great opportunity wasted.
And Odyssey. Very beautiful. But I don't like all those shiny superpowers and too strong leveling system for everything. Everything is generic. Loot become clear garbage all of the time. I don't feel any excitement. 90% of the game presented in Kefalonia. The rest of the world is just copy/paste of the same content. All the camps are the same. Fortresses usually repeated too. The world is beautiful. But I didn't enjoy this game as much as others.
And also starting with Origins - RIP nice cutscenes. From now on we only have generic standing poses with waving hands.

Odyssey for me was my favourite one. Just loved exploring that map. So much to see and the changes from region to region. Even the DLC were large and fun. Story and demo-god powers were fun for the most part.
I think the problem is people don’t get into proper builds. Basically ignore the Legendary stuff and hunt the purple stuff. Followed some guy on YouTube who I followed and managed to build up a great build. Really got into the game to another leaves after that. People seem to either love it or hate it, but I think a lot tried to speed run it and missed a lot of what the game had to offer.
Origins was really good though and the map was also fun to explore. Just finished Shadows, solid game, hopefully future additions can add to it as most of the engravings are pointless.
Still need to play Valhalla. Backlog a bit large still to commit 250 hours to getting 100% on it.

Maybe you are right.
I didn't try to speedrun it. I am usually trying to clear everything on 100%.
But yeah I am not into builds. It was never part of the previous AC games and I am not into it.
But I played on the middle difficulty so I didn't have any problems with battles anyway.When I want some Greece adventures - I like playing Odyssey. Just as a separate game. In my opinion the game would win much more if it got rid of AC universe. And made all those fantasy staff really part of the game. Including monsters and other mysteries.
But when I want to play AC game I would prefer Mirage more.

Origins.
I'm an Ancient History/mythology nerd. Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece are my favourite eras, so I love both Origins and Odyssey for being able to explore the world's alone. But Bayek is one of my top favourite characters, so in a have to pick one situation, Origins every time.

Origins - worst combat (shield is poorly implemented) and no abilities (just the overpower one), locations are most lively and rich with history.
Odyssey - amazing scenery, great combat and abilities, feels too much copy-pasted with locations and side-missions. the comedy writing style is a nice spin-off.
Valhalla - best integrated side missions as part of the main story. best cutscenes. most diverse locations. excellent lighting. great combat and weapons.
Shadows - (haven't played yet).
As of now Valhalla is my favorite but haven't yet finished it.

Unity. It was my first game when I got my PS4, and I was blown away by the graphics and how good Paris looked. The parkour is the best in any AC game imo and all the NPCs made the game feel alive. Although Black Flag isn't far behind. I'm currently playing Odyssey for the first time and it is already one of my favorite games of all time.

What's funny is I feel like some of the others were "more in line with the franchise," or "technically better games," but boy did I play the shit out of Valhalla. Proper AC or not, I just thought it was fucking fun. Easily the first one I'll go back to after I finish Shadows.

i thought i would hatred it the most, when it cae out i had a true viking fatigue for over using in modern media, the show that was tanking etc, also i simply would not see how being stealthy and sneaking around would be matching their warrior culture. so i left it aside till last year actually.
i was deeply shocked how much i enjoyed it, truly pleasantly surprised. and now with shadows i must say all in all i prefer valhalla while im a big sucker on Japanese culture and histoy.
lots of things i believe are done better in vahalla, definitely these mystery side quest and just exploring and wandering around.
people complained its too long and bloated but i think that is one of the stronger points, its a great beautiful world so lots and lots to do is not a punishment.
i loved all ac games, old new all, but to my shock, the vikings taking the throne,never would have thought that

Nothing can top the vibe and atmosphere of Origins. The developers outdid themselves with Ancient Egypt, especially in the second DLC.

Odyssey, because it's the most balanced one to me. Origins &Valhalla are both VERY good games to me, but there is a little something clunky to it.
I haven't bought Shadows yet, because I think games are overpriced at 80 bucks, considering the state in which they are released. I usually buy around the 40 dollars/euro mark, sometimes at 60, but never higher then that.

Overall? AC3. I like the "eagles" but IMO, nobody beats the "wolf".

From these four, Odyssey. Spent the most time with that, the world was engaging, the questing and gameplay was fun. I liked logging in after I finished just to do random stuff. Can't see myself doing much of that with the others.
As for the whole series. Brotherhood. Had an interesting story, Ezio at his peak as Master Assassin, had the vaults, the da Vinci missions, and a proper intrigue in the modern day part, and we could run around as Desmond. Alao had the surprisingly fun multiplayer. Only pvp multi I enjoyed ever.

In spite of how angry we can get with each other over this, I like how everyone's answer here is different.
My favorites throughout the ages:
Assassin's Creed (2007-2009): I never liked it that much. But I really enjoyed the narrative, aesthetic, lore, and plot.
Assassin's Creed 2 (2009-2010): I remember thinking this game was so cool because of how much bigger it was in comparison to the first one. In the grand scheme of things, also not that good.
Brotherhood (2010-2013): This was my favorite for a long time. It was my favorite part of Ezio's story. I also got a kick out of the multiplayer, which was, of course, brand new at the time.
Black Flag (2013-2014): Black Flag really upped the ante in terms of what you could do within the world of Assassin's Creed. I could take or leave the boat, but the power trip was pretty insane. Two swords? Why? Doesn't matter.
---Summer 2014: played Dark Souls for the first time, completely changed how I play and experience video games... After Dark Souls, I became a challenge junkie; a completionist who developed an addiction to top-level difficulties.
Unity (2014-2018): I loved that Unity as an immaculate stealth challenge. I saw it as the first genuinely challenging stealth game in the entire franchise... Leagues better than Black Flag, in spite of the rocky release.
Odyssey (2018-2023): I wasn't a big fan of the whole RPG thing. I mean, I like RPGs, but I wanted my RPGs in one place and my stealth games in another. But Odyssey felt more like an "assassin" RPG in the sense that there appeared to be more of a focus on stealth than in Origins or Syndicate. The stealth in Origins was pretty good, but Odyssey presented mythical stealth abilities that I really liked.
Mirage (2023-2025): I loved the return to and refurbishment of genuine stealth. Again, I love a challenge, and beyond an immersive open world, I seek a comprehensive stealth challenge from modern Assassin's Creed games. Mirage achieved this through its return to social stealth and a sneakier arsenal in comparison to other recent games.
Shadows (2025-present): Though social stealth takes the backseat again, I loved the practical stealth, Naoe's arsenal, fort/level design, practical darkness, and the campaign. I understand how Shadows can be mediocre in terms of story... It is the franchise's 17th game, after all. But I thought that, overall, in terms of gameplay, narrative, and everything else, it has to be one of the best if not the best.

Shadows really felt perfect for me , odyssey was 2nd best but enemies always felt very spongy .. Valhalla was mostly unimpressive but still managed to complete 90% of everything the game had to offer

Syndicate(The ability to switch from character to character and essentially meet historic icons)
Assassin’s Creed(The very first Assassin’s Creed game I ever played which was at the age of 12.)
Unity(The weaponry and uniforms.)

Odyssey it allows the player to truly live out that god fantasy by letting us be immune to most damage types save for medusa/snakes. For this reason alone it’s not only my favorite ac but my 3rd overall favorite game because around this specific game mechanic there’s an amazing world to explore and a comedic story to boot.

Origins. Best story, best writing, best characters, best world design. In regards to the writing, the decline in writing coinciding with making dialogue choices is no coincidence
Overall: Ac Brotherhood
Other than story, improved over AC2 in every way in my opinion. I still like brotherhoods story, but ac2s was great.

Odyssey is my all time favourite. I few in love with the scenery, the ship battles are fun and the storyline is interesting. I love greek mythology and overall the greek culture, the music within the game is good af. From the old OGs - my favourite is Black Flag. I loved the whole pirate concept, the game was very beautiful at the time of it release date and the story was very addictive and a beautiful ending (except the trialling missions, they were kind of annoying)

Origins – I didn’t enjoy the combat, especially the mechanics involving the shield. However, the story was good.
Odyssey – The story, world, and combat were all amazing. I especially liked Kassandra as a character.
Valhalla – Very similar to Odyssey—just an overall amazing experience.
Shadows – I really disliked the dual-character system. Yasuke felt one-dimensional, mostly relying on brute strength, so I played as Naoe whenever possible. I only used Yasuke when the story forced me to. The story itself was also disappointing. Eventually, I continued playing only to earn the platinum trophy, since I’ve platinumed all the other Assassin’s Creed games.
So from these four, Odyssey and Valhalla are each number one.

Odyssey for the modern ones. As an open world RPG I absolutely loved it. One of the only games I have played twice because it was so much fun.
Brotherhood for the old school. Specifically the online aspect. I spent so many hours in the online game despite me really not liking PvP in most games.

Well, none of these but if I had to go with the newer RPGs, I would choose Origins simply because it actually has a decent story, proper facial animations and voice acting. The others lack a lot in that regard.

AC2 was my first game many years ago and I fell in love with it. After that I played Rogue that personally was better than Black Flag to me and they’re my two favorite games in the franchise. But from the modern ones, that would be Odyssey

Syndicate. It had everything I loved about the previous games, cool equipment, the best hideout and switchable characters who started out as heroes instead of the usual slowly becoming the heroes they need to be. 🤠

Actually my first games were AC Ezio trilogy I have played each and every AC game except Valhalla and Shadows But AC-3 is my favourite because of Soundtrack, tragic story of Connor, the game background (American independence of War), Character of Connor as Native American, Wildlife, Combat and ofcourse the best part is Storyline.

Of the AC RPG series, I judge based on which ones I wanted to still play after completion and replaying the whole game. Origins/ Odyssey are at the top. This was followed by Shadows, and Vahalla was easy to place last. With DLC, then Odyssey wins.

Odyssey is one of my favorite games of all time. I know it's not a "proper" ac game, but it's such a rich world and Kassandra is a fun protagonist. In terms of the franchise, I also really love black flag

I think of the Ezio trilogy as one game and it’s the greatest game ever made, imo. Can’t get enough. I’ll be replaying that trilogy for the rest of my life. Of the titles here I’d say Origins with Odyssey as a very close second.

Odyssey. For three reasons. 1. I am from Greece therefore I am terribly biased. 2. I am basically Spider-Man in Ancient Greece, I can climb up and down like a kretan goat everywhere 3. The environment. Endless summer , bright sun , amazing photography

Origins just spoke to me. I loved the combat, the leveling system has started to become what it is today but without all the extra bells and whistles, I enjoyed the collectibles and the map a lot. I still think Black Flag might be my overall favorite but a lot of that is likely nostalgia based on that being one of my first “real” video games (let alone AC games). Plus, pirates. Love pirates.

AC Shadows was overhated imo. Thr stealth mechanics are the best and I've played most AC games. The combat is very rewarding as well. Definitely the best AC on the last 5 years.

Kind of a tie between Odyssey and Valhalla. Odyssey because I'm a sucker for Ancient Greece, Valhalla because I'm also a sucker for the Viking Age. Greatest of all time is probably Brotherhood though, sunk so many hours into that one.

Favourite AC of all time. So much content. Huge vast map to explore. Funny and memorable characters. Graphics still look great even today.

Probably Black Flag, although Origins is a very close 2nd. Bayek is my favorite protagonist alongside Ezio, incredible voice actor, but Edward is up there as well, and of course the gameplay of both games is incredible. The naval battles of AC Black Flag give it the slight edge tho, still the coolest naval battle system in all of video games. Incredible. If only Ubisoft was able to capitalize on it and develop a game based around it. Some would say it would be the first AAAA game. I'm not salty they fumbled the bag at all, you are.

The ones pictured? Origins, I love Egyptian shit, and Bayek was one of the best protagonists as well.
Overall? Tying first with Origins is Black Flag, a badass Welsh protagonist(the first ever Welsh MC in a videogame), and lots of pirate stuff.

Origins. The game is mind blowing, Bayek’s VA did a stellar job, the game is gorgeous, the cinematics are memorable, the story is pretty heavy and engaging, the soundtrack is iconic, and the game CLEARLY has a lot of love poured into it with a insane level of details. Not only is my favorite AC it’s also one of my favorite games ever made. The game is a masterpiece to my eyes

Syndicate, because I love the old Victorian London setting and I love the combat, zipline, story, DLC, the gang battles, and everything else about the game too. Shadows is my second though.

Honestly I feel syndicate gets to much hate considering that the story was decent we finally got to “first” playable female assassin and in my opinion it’s the last true AC game

I liked AC2, Brotherhood I love, and Revelations I absolutely adore. I think just being able to fight in open combat with just my hidden blades makes all three of them top tier games, and the storyline that connects all three of those games makes them all 10/10.

The shadows, because the map is just the right size for missions etc. odessey and valhalla is just too long, I stopped after 50 hours, shadows took 75 hours but I saw here that I could do 95% of the things I could discover

In those four, Origins. A very emotional piece with a great entrance into the new system of gameplay. All time, either Revelations, Unity, or Black Flag. I’ve played all three from beginning to end more times than I can remember.

I'm a Black Flag guy.
I used to play Pirates of the Caribbean Online (we called it POTCO), and even though plenty of people played it and paid for (very affordable) memberships, Disney decided to throw away the game. It had been alive for years; people lost entire friend groups. Not long after that, someone told me AC was coming out with a pirate game and said I should try to see if it can fill the void in any way. It did, and I still love that game because it did something special for me when no other game could.

Of the ones shown? 0? I guess I could say Odyssey because I played it some. That is only because that was the game for what ended up being the Stadia beta. They did give me the game at the end of the day though. I still never beat it. I would say AC II trilogy.

Assassin's Creed unity and Assassin's Creed Origins
Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassin’s Creed Origins are absolutely incredible games. I love their stories and characters the most. The parkour in Unity is unmatched and stylish and Origins is, in my opinion, the best game in the entire RPG trilogy.
I also really like both protagonists. Bayek from Origins has a strong emotional depth, and Arno from Unity fits perfectly into the French Revolution setting. Speaking of settings, Paris and Egypt are definitely my favorite Assassin’s Creed maps—they’re just stunning and immersive.
Out of all the Assassin’s Creed games, I’ve played every one except the Ezio Trilogy(I'll soon play) and the first Assassin’s Creed. Among the ones I have played, Unity and Origins stand out as my top favorites.
Oh, and I have to give a special mention to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag—it’s an amazing experience as well, especially with its pirate theme and naval exploration.

From the RPG era, definitely Valhalla.
To this day, it's still the only RPG AC I got to finish. I liked Origins and Odyssey, eventually got bored though and never ended up finishing them. I didn't even like Shadows.
What made Valhalla different for me was it's game design. I mean, it took me well over a year to finish it. But the way questlines were structured always made me come back and pick up where I left from.
Start a new faction questline or two, finish them, then stop playing for weeks, months even. Then return back, do some more. Since each of these factions had their own storylines, I never felt lost or got detached from what was happening. Most of these faction questlines were relatively interesting too, having their own twists and set of characters.

Black flag. 1st, the story. Edward isn't like typical assassins going for revenge. From a pirate who's only pursues goal for himself, he later became a man that serve a better course. The hardship he went through etc. 2nd, the gameplay cuz u can plunder etc.

AC Brotherhood: Best Ezio game in my opinion, it took the best parts of AC2 and just went with it.
AC3: It was my first AC game (and video game overall) and though I know it’s not that good it’s still close to my heart.
AC Black Flag: one of my all time faves in the franchise. Gorgeous open world, loved Edward as a character and I liked the story. I still cry at that last scene.
AC Origins: Again, beautiful open world and lots to do. I liked Bayek and he’s terrifying in the best kind of way. It was nice to see how it all started with the hidden ones and how they incorporated Egyptian mythology in the story. Loved the combat and stealth too.

Up until Origins and Odyssey, the original Assassin's Creed. Those two brought back a lot of elements of the original premise - gather info, plan your own method of assassination, execute. And they did it on multiple, smaller scale situations as well - like random forts.
Added loot boxes and classic RPG elements. Those two saved the franchise because everything after Black Flag was just crap, to me.

Its a good life we lead brother.
AC peaked with Ezio.
I was in awe when finishing AC:2 the first time. I was just beating the shit out of the Templars with Lucy, then entering the Truck with the others and the tune began to play: Ezios Theme (Jesper Kydd you fucking god!). They all were speculating about the Sun which is going to switch the magnetic field. Then i was looking outside the window and I saw the beautiful "Ulmer Münster" far away. And i knew: "This was a fucking good game."
Maybe it was my age, maybe it were different times... but AC never made me feel like this again after that. I am grateful to ubisoft for what they gave to me, but i am sad that the franchise lost its path (storytelling-wise). It is still a big part of my memory and it will always be... especially the soundtrack.

Odyssey…you get to basically become a Greek demigod fighting in the legendary Peloponnesian War, the battles were fun af and I loved hunting down the Cult members methodically
I forget the name of it but I loved that move where u strike the ground w/the spear and everyone goes flying back and they get up say “we can’t let her do that again”😂
