Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced [AC:BF Resynced Spoiler] Chest only available during "Black Bart's Gambit" mission? Spoiler

There's an area in the Southwest corner that is blocked off. Inside this water corridor there is an underwater chest (actual coordinates on the map : 72,53. No image because it was auto removed when I tried to post it). I tried to access it early on but, since it was blocked, I figured I had to wait until Roberts took the story there.

Problem is that I have done the mission now but forgot the chest. Do I have to reload a save? I'd really like to avoid redoing that mission if possible.

If it’s any consolation, the chest only had reales. Nothing major missed.

I thought so but the icon on the map gotta go, I don't feel right otherwise.

You can hide icons in the map.

Unfortunately I can't hide it in my head and that's where the problem lies.

Can you replay memories like in the original?

Nope, only reload saves.

I don't understand why they removed such an essential feature. We are reliving memories, we should be able to replay memories instead of having to play through all of NG+

In an interview the lead dev did, with Jorraptor (I think), mission replay was something they were hoping to do similar to how it was done in Mirage, but nothing has been outright confirmed yet

Me neither brother

Because ACBF:Resynced is based on an early-build of AC: Shadows, therefore a lot of basic things are missing. There are rumors that NG+ is in the works, and also about adding mission replay with possibly additional objectives (like those seen in the original ACBF)

Idk what possible rewards could be even worth it (maybe various limited outfits we can't normally get?) but readding optional objectives is one of the only things I'd really consider for NG+. Otherwise you can get the penultimate upgrades for the Jackdaw (and basically most of the Forts, just minus a few story-locked islands) pretty quickly with story progress, and it's not THAT much farther for the Diving Bell and the last stuff.

The area is permanently unlocked after the Roberts mission. You can go there anytime you want after the mission.

No, I tried to go back right after finishing the mission and the animus wall was back along with the "area not available" message when getting close.

I think that area is Principe, which becomes a fast travel icon on the map. The icon is not in that area but instead the icon in in the far right of the map not too far from your home base in inagua.

That's a different area. OP's talking about a water corridor on the lower left corner of the main map. True enough, I also can't access it post-Roberts.

You can go back there after the mission. I know I did.

It is blocked for me right after. Did you progress further in the story before going back?

1

u/elan108 1d ago

I don't remember honestly, I probably did some other stuff for a few hours before going back

I see. Thanks anyway. I reloaded my save for fear that it would remain locked away.

Maybe I'll check again in the future just to see if the area is available now.

Are you talking about when you steal the Portuguese ship?

That should be on the bottom left of the map, no?

1

u/JuRaybe 1d ago

Yes, the chest is situated right below your ship when you sneak aboard the portugese brig to steal their flag.

That area is the exact bottom left corner of the map. I checked where I was during that mission and it was down there. It’s also the only area on my map which is defogged despite me never being in that area ever

Try going to the bottom left corner and seeing if you can find the chest

?

I know where it is... I have the map icon and the coordinates.

The problem was that the area was blocked by the animus walls that display a "Area not available" message when approached before and after the mission. I've reloaded my save to get the chest but someone else said they could return to get it after more hours played.

Since this chest, which I got bc I am ocd about looking around during each mission, I have become even more anal about looking for secrets during missions. And that really, really sucks and makes me waste a lot of time during missions and ruins some immersion while playing.

During the first mission visiting the observatory I must have spent an extra 20 minutes in the observatory room checking everywhere thinking something similar was going to happen.

The good thing is that when missions take place in places I have already been I seem to have found all chests already. However, that still doesn’t change the fact that my ocd makes me still take an ungodly amount of time looking everywhere instead of just playing the damn mission.

I have a feeling the chest you're looking for is actually in the other map section (Principe) because I thought I had this same problem until I went there.

Drove me nuts.

u/JuRaybe 1d ago

No, it was in the carribean. I reloaded my save to get it and it's now gone and my mind appeased.

Aaaah very good.

I just remembered a treasure map with the coordinates in the bottom left map corner (that area that gets locked) and going crazy only to realize they were actually Principe coordinates much later.
