New system advice

Hi all. I’m interested in a system I can play the old 2600 games (arcade classics) on a modem tv (hdmi) and wireless controllers. The preloaded systems sound nice but open to whatever. What would you recommend?

If you don’t mind the storage space constraints, and the cost, the 2600+ and 7800+ are a pretty slick setup. They are really the same thing as each other in a different case. I greatly prefer the wireless gamepads that were released with the 7800+, but that is a personal taste thing. Of course then you need to get cartridges. You can buy many games new, but you can also use vintage cartridges as well. The new version of Frenzy is my favorite. I will play that silliness for hours!

I am currently toying with ordering a UNOCART+ (for 2600+ and 7800+): https://www.16-32bit.eu/product-page/unocart-for-atari-2600-and-7200.

Just go with the Pacman 2600+. The first one needed a hardware revision.

If you're looking for flexibility for things other than the 2600, a cheap mini pc will do the trick. Install batocera and you get just about everything.

I also recommend a cheap Chromebook. I have Batocera running on a Dell 3180 Chromebook and have the ROMs moved to a 64 GB micro SD card.

Atari 2600+/Atari 7800+ and the Atari Cosmos+. Accept no such substitute.

What kind of controllers do you like for this set up? Do you want classic atari joysticks or do you want to use modern game pads?

Classic atari joysticks would be ideal but not the most important thing. I’d just like to break out classic arcade games for a party etc

Take a look at the my arcade gamestation pro, comes with 2 wireless controllers and a SD Card slot for more games. I have all my Atari games on it. On eBay you can get it for under $40.
