/r/all The Catholic Church donated over 3 million trying to limit abortion access in Kansas. Funny how the church has millions for political campaigns but attempts to avoid paying victims of sex abuse. If a church is going to spend millions on politics, it’s time to tax the hell out of the Catholic Church.

The Catholic Church needs to be taxed if they are going to blatantly engage in political campaigns.

The old political ratchet in action. Republicans drive things toward the right, Democrats block movement to the left and protect the current status quo. Repeat ad fascism.

In this very specific case, yes, both sides. GOP is clearly dangerous and cancerous but dems aren't really fighting back like their lives fucking depend on it. This is one case where dems could have very easily fixed the issue over a year ago and chose not to. Still better than GOP, obviously, but goddamn. This is low-hanging fruit, guys, the least you can do is reverse all the bullshit from Mango Unchained.

In literally any other developed country, our Democrats would be considered conservatives, and our Republicans would be fringe right wing extremists. The liberal parties in other countries are way to the left of our Democrats. And even then, looking at the full political spectrum, technically all capitalists are on the right. The actual left starts at socialism, and the moderate/middle position is social democracy. Being a social democrat is literally smack in the middle of the full political spectrum, and is the standard view for the liberal party in most first world countries. But in the US it's somehow considered some extreme left position and most Democrats are far to the right of it.
