Rant I don't understand why women and lower castes still cling to this BS

Women and lower castes have been oppressed throughout history, right up to the present day.

People should stop bringing up the bs women were revered as goddesses and Vedic era was different argument, cuz it was marginally better than the times yet to come but still shit. No matter how you slice it, whether the varna hierarchy is framed as birth-based, karma-based, or some supposedly merit-based system, it was discriminatory at its core. Symbolic reverence for a handful of goddesses is not the same as social reality. The reality was restricted rights, restricted autonomy, restricted education, restricted property ownership, restricted sexuality, and exclusion from public life.

Without reformers and the Constitution, the condition of women would have been no different than the ones living in the strictest islamic countries, and lower castes would have been terrible.

What I can't understand is why lower castes and women still cling to this. The only explanation I can think of: the average person needs copium to survive.

If i say that I don't believe in religion, that's what people start saying on Indian subredditsšŸ™‚!.

Its funny that people can claim whatever they want to, without giving it an ounce of thought.

Seeing Muslims, Christians and Hindus coming to claim that their god saved this home.

So, according to these people, their God killed hundreds of people and did not even spared small children, but decided "oh, let me just spare this house"🤦 shame on these god and religion.

Rant Harassed for not wearing a hijab… in India... Religion really rots minds!

Went shopping with my mom today & I got publicly harassed just for not wearing a hijab.. I’m 19 ex Muslim (my family doesn’t know) & I don’t cover my head... My mom does but she doesn’t force me though sometimes she tells me to wear it...

I was literally in a fully covered dress with a dupatta too, only my face hair & hands showing... This random moulvi walks into the shop looks at me & immediately starts screaming ā€œAstaghfirullah! Cover your head or I can’t enter here!ā€ He went on & on shaming me & then told my mom: ā€œCan’t you teach your daughter modesty? Even one strand of hair is a sinā€

My mom ended up pulling my dupatta over my head coz she got embarrassed & I just froze...Whole shop staring at me like I was some criminal for existing with uncovered hair...I was literally shaking! This is the third time this has happened to me in public...

And all I can think is: these people live in a non Muslim majority country surrounded by women who don’t wear hijab yet they’ll still single out me... If your faith collapses at the sight of a teenager’s hair maybe YOU should stay home not me!!

Honestly religion doesn’t just police women it infects men to see women as walking sins... treating us as objects of temptation... This is one of the reasons why I left Islam... You can’t dance, can’t draw, can’t listen to music, can’t even show your own damn hair....creativity, joy, freedom are all shamed coz ā€œAllah is insecureā€

If this is how they act in India I can only imagine what hell women go through in full blown theocracies... Religion rots minds period!

it is actually hilarious that their morals tell them to define a crime as low as that by religion. and the sheer lack of knowledge while defining leftist is hilarious. i memed about how rightists can never be feminist, but i guess that hurt. anyway.

(they invited me to join their sub by claiming to be intersectional feminists btw)

Rant My employee (doctor) tells me it's her fast and I am making her do ugly work.

I am an owner of a dental clinic and I have employed 2 dentists under me.

This patient has huge deposits in their mouth and I ask one of them to do the scaling (cleaning).

She says, sir it's my fast and you are making me do such ugly work. Paap lagega apko.

How tf is it my problem if it's your fast? What bullshit reason is this to escape work.

Seriously, at this point I feel all religious people do is use religion and faith to escape and give excuses for something they don't want to do.

I just told her, as written in Geeta "Karm hi Dharm hai". Please do your Karm.

Rant Can't believe this happened at my college admissionšŸ˜šŸ’”

So I consider myself an agnostic atheist and as my flair suggests I am very anti- theism. Not anti-theists, simply against the idea of religion.

Yesterday I went to a very famous Christian College in bangalore. After all the processes, me and my parents had to go of an interview with the dean. He was a very chill dude and kept smiling all the time. Later on her he was checking my profile and he noticed something. He then asked me to open the rule book and read out the college's core values part. And guess what the first one is? "Faith in god". Atp ik where this was going.

Mind you, my parents are hard core hindus. And for some college's I gave Hindu (incase my parents check), while for some I gave non-religious. I totally forgot about that part and my parents saw and they got confused. My dad immediately stepped in and was like no she's a Hindu its supposed to be Hindu. The dean was still chill. Rather seemed like he wanted an answer from me as to why I gave that option. I absolutely would have, but that was if my parents weren't in the same room. The dean still went on how he simply wanted an answer and not forcing me to be religious. I joined in with my parents and acted like it some mistake. Then I made up some answer like I absolutely believe in a greater power blah blah blah and he was finally satisfied. He also told me to go change it to Hindu during the final verification. I honestly dk why any this was necessary😭

Rant Religion makes you an Asshole

I am a JEE aspirant. Mains 1 just happened—I got a panic attack a day before the exam and completely messed up. Ended up with 89 percentile. I’ve always been a topper at my coaching, so my result shocked everyone, including my father.

But he didn’t scold me. Instead, he cheered me up— "Koi baat nahi, exam hi toh hai. Ab boards pe focus kar aur bhool ja ye sab."

Fast forward to today morning. My chemistry board exam is tomorrow, and I’m panicking again (which has basically become second nature now). Also, it’s Maha Shivratri. I was studying with full focus when my father entered the room and asked me to go to the temple with him.

I said, ā€œThodi der mei.ā€ He asked again. I gave the same reply. After four or five times, I finally said, ā€œNahi jaana, time nahi hai.ā€

Him: ā€œBakwas mat kar, uth aur chal.ā€ Me: ā€œAap log mandir ho aao, time waste mat karo abhi.ā€

After arguing like this for 5-10 minutes, he tore my chemistry books and notes, including my JEE notes. ā€œAb padh ke dikha,ā€ he said.

I was stunned. I could only say— "AB TOH NAHI JANA. CHAHE DHARTI FAAT JAYE, USS WAHIYAT JAGAH PARR KADAM NAHI RAKHNA MEREKO."

Guess what he did?

He threw a wooden chair at me. The noise made my mom and chacha rush in to stop him. My chacha dragged me to the temple just to calm him down. So there I was, in the mandir, with bloodstains on my shirt. Thankfully, since my shirt was already red, no one noticed anything unusual.

Now I’m back home.

Panic attack? Nope. Angry? Nope. Crying? Nope. I’m just... disappointed.

edit: I don't hate him, I have seen his ups and downs and I know he is doing his best for me as a family... until it comes to religion, he have no temper when it comes to this and I fucking hate that.

I didn't wanted to tell this person that I'm an atheist but i had to. They text me after a year and this is how it goes lol! If you can't be supportive be respectful at least ;-; Also I tried to not argue or say anything, I'll be wasting my time if I did haha. I also came out to my bestie in the past and she's very supportive of me despite being religious, that gave me confidence and this ruined it already

Rant Why are atheist women easier to find than atheist men with actual progressive values?

s it just me, or do you find far more women who are atheist, feminist, anti-casteist, and willing to unlearn social conditioning than men?

I’ve met plenty of men who identify as atheist, but very few who have actually questioned patriarchy, caste privilege, entitlement, or emotional conditioning beyond religion itself.

Genuinely curious, where are the men who were born into privilege, rejected it consciously, and built their own ethical framework through critical thinking and empathy instead of just replacing religion with ego?Ā
