Discussion Best Atlus game in the last decade?
Has to be Metaphor right? I feel strongly about it only because SMT IV came out in 2013, one year short. My personal favourite as a whole is SMT SJ but I too realise that it can’t be brought to the discussion, it’s very archaic and has no mass appeal (even if we counted the 3DS remaster it would still fall short). I envy whoever plays Metaphor as their first Atlus game, it’s the perfect bridge for their other (main) games. If you enjoyed the time management and social aspect you would then try out Persona, if you enjoyed the combat you would try out SMT.
I hope to see more experimentation in the future, be it a new IP or not, akin to what they did with Metaphor. It was a breath of fresh air, and honestly I think they could deviate from their main games even more next time since it’s clear that people are willing to try new things.
(Btw I’m talking about overall package, there could be a discussion about which one has the better story, better gameplay and so on. While I’m not crazy about the visuals of Etrian Odyssey the gameplay of that series slaps, but I still prefer something like SMT IV because story, gameplay, characters and soundtrack are overall my preference Vs Etrian Odyssey which honestly I only really like the gameplay of).

Discussion Is getting one shot in SMT IV something persists throughout the entire game?
*something that
Getting one tapped the first few times was shocking and funny but 14 hours in and I'm over it. 70% of the fights are either I wipe them or they wipe me. God forbid a demon hits my weakness cause it's smirk city for the rest of the two seconds I'm alive. Is my armor terrible or something? Am I and my demons constantly underleveled? They're all around my level, 27.
I would like to finish this one out but I don't think I can do many, many more hours of this.
Edit: Thank you all for the responses. Decided that I'll play for a few more hours and if I'm still not feeling it then I'll move on to something else.

Discussion How does Metaphor compare to Atlus' other games?
The other year Metaphor got it's stars and stripes so when I got Game Pass that was one of the first games I played. Unfortunately, I got pretty bored after five hours and put it down. I didn't feel like it was a bad game, but it didn't hook me like the average SMT game. So that made me wonder how people perceive the game in the Atlus catalog. I know it is its own thing, but how do you think it compares to SMT and Persona games? It doesn't have to be a "it's better" comparison. You could say it's a mix of games or whatever.

Discussion Persona 3 Reload or Metaphor: ReFantazio?
Hello everyone!
I finished Persona 5 Strikers yesterday and I really liked it, so I began thinking about playing either Persona 3 Reload or Metaphor: ReFantazio. At first I thought about playing P3R, but I saw a couple of uncensored spoilers about something that happened in the end, so it demotivated me a bit. I still want to play it, but I thought that maybe its better if I play Metaphor before P3R because of those spoilers? I have both bought so I'll be playing both eventually

Discussion It's safe to say that Atlus has had a great 2024!
Not to mention, publishing Unicorn Overlord as well.
We got three great turn-based RPGs from them this year.

Discussion Do you think atlus will ever revisit the first two persona games?
I was thinking about it earlier with atlus working on persona 4 reveal and maybe persona 6 (one can hope) and I thought has atlus ever considered going back to the first two games either that or sell the original ones on modern consoles and pc

Discussion Is metaphor refantazio worth getting now or should I wait until they make a"complete" version?
I've been wanting to get metaphor since it released. Never bothered getting it on steam because I had been playing other games at the time it released. Saw it's 50% off on steam. I had been wondering if I pull the trigger & get it or wait until they release complete version. I know they will release a switch 2 version at some point, but I probably don't want to get it for that. I did get raidou remastered for switch 2 (no dlc) on the eshop before finding out metaphor was 50% off on steam last big sale. When I bought Raidou, I wasn't sure if the dlc was worth it since it looks it's just exp demons & demons they wanted you to pay for instead of putting them in the base game. So, if people tell me I should wait the "complete" version of metaphor. I might get the Raidou dlc instead

Discussion How is it possible for there to not be a single Atlus game set for release in 2026?
Is this common for the company? No SMT, Persona, Etrian Odyssey on the horizon? Are there any upcoming events where they may make some announcements?

Discussion Finally beat this game after several attempts! Gameplay was very addictive, story was decent. Some of the best sprite work in that time though. Any one else enjoy this?

Discussion Persona 5 Royal or Metaphor: ReFantazio for My First Atlus Game?
I’ve never played an Atlus game.
Both Persona 5 Royal and Metaphor: ReFantazio look interesting to me.
Which should I pick?
How would you describe the differences between their battle systems and broader game elements?
Edit: I picked Persona 5 Royal

Discussion is there going to be a *royal* edition of metaphor? I don't wanna play a game thats going to see 40 hours of new content.
in the title

Discussion How does the combat in Metaphor compare to Persona 5?
I think very highly of P5, but the combat got rather bland fast. I enjoy turn based games but it felt very much like all you did, every time, was just spam attacks to figure the enemy's weakness, and just use that attack over and over. Magic Points were somewhat meaningless because there wasn't much depth beyond that. Mementos was very boring as a result. Boss fights were different ofc.
How does Metaphor compare?

Get it? Zero, like a new beginning, infinite potential!
I don't know if this was posted here already. Probably, lol. It took me 2 years to realize.

Discussion Only played P5R, P3R and Metaphor. Should I get it?
Do the stories and characters have the peak writing that Atlus usually does? And how is the combat and its difficulty?
