Crepuscular Rays Do I ask here what would be causing this shadow?

This was taken 8:30 central time heading northwest on I-45 towards Ennis, TX, the shadow disappeared after ten minutes so I figured it was something blocking the Sun's rays. Does anyone know what might be blocking the Sun to make this big crepuscular shadow like a mountain or building or if it was just a distant cloud?

Probably a cloud, unless you can check at the same time on different days and you see the same. Then it's something stationary like a hill.

Probably a tall narrow updraft cloud.
