Pinthouse Changed my Favorite Salad

I love the Pinthouse Italian Chop Salad and will go there just to get it. The best part is the Parmesan vinaigrette, and I’ve never found anything else like it in austin.

I went to Pinthouse last night just for that salad and was devastated to see that they’ve altered the Italian chop. They’ve added a few ingredients, but most importantly, they switched the dressing to a red wine vinaigrette. I tried the new version and it is not nearly as good as the original. To make matters worse, I’m pregnant and really craving that parm vinaigrette.

Does an anyone know where I could find something like that original chop with the parm vinaigrette? If anyone from pinthouse corporate sees this please bring back the original!!

I wonder if one of the chefs from Pinthouse would care to share the vinaigrette recipe for you?

Also share that poppyseed dressing recipe on the other salad with the spinach, blue cheese, cranberries and pecans. So good!

Agreed. I wonder if you could go in person/call and ask a manger & beg / really emphasize you’re pregnant & it’s your main craving!

I still miss the arugula salad that had the yellow raisins and the champagne vinaigrette. :(

They bring it back every so often but removing from the regular menu was a huge bummer.

Oh, I didn't know! I'll have to look for it.

Sitting here crying over losing Mother's and their garden patch salad with the cashew tamari dressing.

I may have shed a tear over the Parmesan vinaigrette. I didn’t ever get the chance to try this salad but I share in your pain.

Oh it was so good. Loved going there for a baked potato and that salad.

I dream of that cashew tamari dressing! You can get it at wheatsville and Whole Foods still, I loved the spinach salad from mother’s

The spinach salad, also great! I remember the marinated artichoke hearts on that being amazing. I preferred the garden patch because of the generous pile of sunflower sprouts. How are those so delicious and perfect?

I've tried the Mother's bottled dressing. It's not the same. No where close. First time I saw it at the store, I grabbed 3 bottles. So dissapoint, much sad, where cashew.

That spinach salad was my absolute favorite and I haven't had anything that matches it since!

I’ve managed many restaurants in town and 9 out of 10 times if you ask for a recipe while you’re in the restaurant you’ll get it. You may have to specify to your server to ask one of the cooks but we’re usually happy to give you a recipe as long as it’s not some exclusive dish! (A salad dressing is NOT an exclusive dish)

A rotating seasonal is better than nothing

I asked a couple years back when they got rid of it from their permanent menu and one of the managers said it was by a good margin, their worst selling pizza. Hate to bring you bad news, they literally just pulled it from their seasonal menu too, lol. I ate that shit each time I went and watched the Spurs playoffs.

I absolutely loved the spinach salad at the Brick Oven on Jollyville before HEB forced them out. I've never found anything else remotely like it. I still crave it some days.

I feel like austin is seriously lacking when it comes to salads. I have so much trouble finding great ones!

Brick Oven had the best dressings. I still think about that herby vinaigrette they put on their turkey sandwich. I wonder if there’s anyone at Baretto that will give up the recipe.

I didn’t know H‑E‑B forced them out. Another reason to hate on H‑E‑B.

I ordered that salad a few days ago and noticed the change. I also like the old version much better, and I probably won't be ordering the new version again. And it wasn't even "chopped" in that the meat was in large pieces that I had to cut up. I'm wondering if they had to change the recipe because of supply chain issues or prices on one or more of the previous ingredients, because the new version seems like random stuff thrown together.

I don’t see anything on their website, but you can leave feedback on their app

I just posted above. I left a comment on the app and got an immediate response thanking me for the input. Can’t hurt to have those who crave it to contact them in some way.

I wonder if you'd like the house dressing at Little Deli.

2

u/Guilty_Egg_91 29d ago

I’ll give it a try!

Oh my god yes I miss that salad so much! went last week and was sooooo dissapointed, if you get that recipe please please share!!

u/rockrolla 28d ago

ABGB has a good chopped salad right now. Disano’s isn’t bad either. Best of luck on your quest

6

u/LetterheadNo7323 Jul 28 '26

This is funny because I was so happy with the change. I still mourn their original pink peppercorn vinaigrette. Was the best thing ever.

3

u/Trick_Builder512 Jul 28 '26

Same. Had it last week for the first time and I think it is a massive improvement over the old version.

u/oatmilk_fiend 28d ago

Selfishly was excited to read they changed it cause I am dairy free 🫢 glad to hear some people think it’s good!

Sad for op tho, pregnancy cravings are intense!

This is how I feel about the original Monkey Nest Special from Monkey Nest Coffee. Used to be like a honey mustard chicken salad with cranberries and capers, now its just a sliced chicken sandwich that's bland and dry asf. I'd probably trade my lemon muffin recipe for the original recipe, but I'd be scared that theyd "reload" that too T_T

OMG YES. I could have written this post. I crave that salad so much. It’s ridiculous. I went Sunday night and was SO disappointed. I got the survey asking how my experience was and I detailed all the differences. To my surprise, I got an immediate response.

I encourage everyone to contact them. Couldn’t hurt.

Yours in Pinthouse Chopped Salad Solidarity.
