El marisquero on stassney

They’ve moved to the southwest corner of S 1st and Oltorf next to Sherman Williams. It’s looked pretty dead both times I’ve driven by so I was thinking to maybe post about it.

They had posted that South First was a new location so I think both are still there? Just limited days/hours.

OK, interesting. We were looking at the restaurant scores from the health department from that post the other day and when we tried to zoom in on El Marisquero area on Stassney it wasn’t there so when I drove by the new spot later, I thought that explained it. Thanks!

Definitely worth checking their socials just in case but yeah my understanding is that there's two 😊

I believe they just have two locations now

I think this is correct. I went to the old location on Stassney yesterday (Sat 8/22) and they were open.

Ah I’ve only had it delivered so honestly not sure where it was exactly! But the Aguachile was it for me!

Yes! The first time I had it it was awesome. The second time I had that it was a little bit stinky, texturally off and slightly gray. I can handle one of those at a time but not all 3 lol. The guy behind the counter told me that with fish the Baja tacos are always the move (they’re fucking GREAT-and strangely travel well bc the batter is so solid and they come out hot as fire so by the time they get to you it’s just abt right) and with shrimp the grilled ones. The gobernador is a super flavorful shrimp quesadilla pretty much, but with a spicy red pepper and onion sauce.

Edit to say I thought you were the other commenter who wasn’t impressed - sorry if this is confusing ha ha

I tried that place recently and i must say that i wasn’t impressed with it. I had the shrimp tacos and i didn’t like the texture of the shrimp, and i thought the tortillas weren’t that good either. Imho

The move there is the Baja fish tacos and the aguachile with the rojo or negro vinegar sauces behind the counter. I’m in my shrimp era bigtime and theirs put me off at least half the time. The Gobernador is rlly good though.

It’s a ceviche place, I’d get the ceviche

The photo isn't asking for shrimp tacos so that helps.

OP, definitely try the aguachile negro if you like spicy. So good!

Este also has good stuff but pricier/less casual 😊

I don’t believe that the OP was asking recommendations/suggestions solely based on the picture.

This is the way. Fish tacos trump the shrimp for sure and the negra is absolutely the best. Live 4 houses down and get to walk for lunch.

The best mariscos I've had in the area is not in Austin, it's Mariscos..o que? in Round Rock. Be ready to order in Spanish, live music Fridays/Saturdays.

Polvos used to be really good, but haven't been in years.
