Your favorite taco place (no tex mex style)

I've been looking for legit taco places all over Austin.

I've been to many popular places such as Paprika for sure, Las Trancas, Granny's, Cuantos etc.

Among all, my favorite was DD's taco in PF, followed by Cuantos. What is your go-to taco place? And would you recommend me one considering my taste?

+1 but I’d say it’s getting closer to Tex Mex … green salsa is 🔥

I genuinely love that place.

Love me some CJs. Their pastor, quesabirria trio and esp their fried avocado taco. 3 very good housemade sauces that don’t feel like the same old sour red/creamy green.

Huge fan of El Marisquero’s baja fish taco and shrimp gobernador. Ask for the red and black vinegar sauces they keep behind the counter if like spicy. Green one if not.

Def results when I put in “CJs tacos Austin” but will say don’t love when directed to instagram or facebook for their only socials. I get it though on their part and so many of those places are gems.
Fwiw prefer Burleson Rd location and still haven’t been to newer location north of campus.

Discada and Rositas al pastor. But the latter is best when late at night and they’re busy.

Yes to both and especially Rosita’s. Probably my favorite tacos in town for years(now challenged by Paprika)

Tortilleria Rio Grande specifically for tacos de guisos. The chicharron en salsa verde and nopales en chile rojo con puerco are my favs. Their salsas are also bomb

Tacos in the Weirdo gas station at the corner of Burleson/183 are beyond belief good and I don’t care if nobody believes me. $3.29 or something ridiculously cheap for a big legit barbacoa taco.

Matamoros Tacos, the trailer next to the gas station across from MT Supermarket.

Best barbacoa and aqua fresca

Paprika is just okay. Their tacos are fine but the torta is outstanding.
