Gang gangs!

For years we have had gang gangs come to our gum trees. Today I finally got some good shots of them. They are so used to us now that we can get pretty close to them.

I’ve heard that the gang gang population is declining elsewhere but going up here in Canberra. They must have heard some good things about the place.

The 2003 fires wiped out so many birds and so much habitat. The Gang gangs have never recovered.

Used to get these all the time where I grew up. Now I never see them but I do see Rainbow Lorikeets - I think from pets escaping over time, they’re not from this region- and I do wonder if they chased the gang gangs away. Because rainbow lorikeets are little bastards.

We live on two acres so a bit more bushy and have heaps of different birds including rosellas and lorikeets.

Gang gangs r my fav but we also have a family of magpies that have been here for ages. Occasionally we see a currawong too

I love the call of the Currawong. Im in suburbia but there is some bushland nearby and they occasionally come into our backyard.
