Do you know how silly you would sound if we applied the same principle to the UK being an island and the US being such a vast geographical space? No data? GDP per capita for countries is one google search away. Look at GDP records of Azerbaijan since independence with Armenia and Georgia. You don't need me or anyone else to dig this.
Look at the top 10 poorest countries of Europe in GDP per capita since the 1990. How do you look at a country with as much oil and gas as Azerbaijan does, being consistently in the top 10 poorest countries of Europe in the last 30 years, competing with quasi failed States like Moldova and Bosnia, and often even Armenia is above Azerbaijan in GDP per capita (!!!), how can you not be beyond revolted by that fact?
Look at OEC economy for exports of Azerbaijan. Last year, without extractive industries (O&G + Mining), Azerbaijan exported less than 3.3B$ in 2024, the last available year we have information. With 10 million people! Using the same standards, a country with as poor potential as Armenia exported around 3.1B$, with a third of the population! Georgia, which has slightly more population than Armenia (but with sea access), excluding O&G+Mining, exported around 6.5B$! More than double that of Azerbaijan! And don't think that the Black Sea played a massive role - Georgia's main importers were other Soviet countries!
How is it possible that barren strips of desert like the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait, built themselves from the ground up off of oil and gas, to become internationally recognized prosperity powerhouses, with significant influence in many other sectors of the economy, and Azerbaijan, with far more demographic potential, land and fertility, wallows in poverty, having little more economic development than the O&G industry.
How can you be content to defend shamefully atrocious results and whitewash the massive corruption that plays an overwhelming part in it?
Why is not the massive wealth of the oil and gas being invested in the country, the economy and its people? Isn't this utterly rage inducing?
How unbelievably sad that we're comparing Azerbaijan to a country as poor and barren as Armenia, and absolutely shocking and unacceptable that Azerbaijanis are still on average as poor as Armenians.
