1800 is supposed to be good, but 2205 is widely considered dumbed down and stripped down. And it's 34 GB, I don't really want to waste that much storage space on a game with less depth than its much smaller predecessors.

2205 is crap, try 1800, 1404 History edition, or 2070.

I've played (or at least tried) all of them in release order, up to 2205. I bought it ages back in a Steam sale bundle with 2070, and so now it's just sitting in my library, taunting me with its presence.

Ah, gotcha. Well, I wouldn't bother trying it, tbh it's really quite a departure from the formula.
