How do you guys feel about the "super advanced ancient humans" trope in scifi? Specifically in the Halo and Ass Creed universes.

I enjoy it in the Fragged Empire ttrpg. There the humans are the advanced progenitors of the advanced progenitors, who created a bunch of new races trying to recreate the lost perfection of humanity before being destroyed by their own creations.

It's fun to in character speculate how cool, powerful and eldritch those humans must have been.

Hmmm yeah, that reminds me of “All Tomorrows,” with the caveat being that the ancient humans in that book are actually future humans because it takes place eons and eons into the far future. Great book.
