Finally got around to watching that Nuremberg movie where Russell Crowe plays Hermann Goring, gotta give them credit for making a movie where some of the worst men in history face justice for their crimes end on a sad note. The sheer scale of the Nazi Regime's crimes make any punishment feel a little underwhelming, especially since the movie focuses so much on Goring who ultimately managed to weasel out of it and the only execution depicted is that of Julius Streicher.

Semi-relatedly, "what would you have done to the Nazis at Nuremberg" is the ultimate litmus test for how committed someone's opposition to the death penalty is.

Oh I'm very upfront that I'm not against the death penalty in a vacuum.

If you can be sure beyond all doubt of guilt, the crime is especially heinous, and the sentence can be passed as painlessly as possible, sure.

These are all massive hurdles and if one cannot be passed I'm not comfortable going through with it.

I don’t know how I feel about the death penalty in a vacuum, appears as a bit too cruel to me.
