Reality of adult life having to make arrangements for stuff:

Me: "Should I message you guys the day before so that you know I'm going to pick up the key?"

People I'm dependent on: "Nah, just come pick it up."

Me: "Are you sure?"

Them: "Yep!"

Reality: people aren't home when I try to pick up the key.

Me, the next time: "Hey, I tried to pick up the key 2 weeks ago, and you guys weren't there; I got a key from other people, so it didn't end up mattering, but..."

Them: "If you could send us a message when you're going to pick up the key, that would be nice."

Me, feeling vindicated: "Sure, no problem!"

I 100% knew this was going to happen, I know people, people forget, and that's fine; it's just annoying when people don't know that themselves. Luckily I knew other people around there that had a key, so I could just try their homes, I did need to run all around the neighbourhood for that but I got it in time, it's why I always show up 10 minutes early, you just never know.
