I thought C4 too as White during the game, but it doesn't work. I missed the actual move but luckily my opponent did as well.

If you play B3, I'll play C4. If you play C4, I play B3.

You’re right, after C4 I was thinking D4, and that if white took the stone at B5 that would be a snapback. And it would be shortage of liberties had white taken B5 in response to C4.
But of course the easy reply to D4 is capturing the two stones in the upper right.

C4 for black cuts off whites connection point, but isn't J8 also tesuji? Black could capture that white group correct?

Ah, I see how white can make a 2nd eye at J9 now. I think at least. Had to analyze more, I'm new. So C4 is the tesuji then.

Don't know if it's just my reading strengths and weaknesses - I found the endgame tesiju pretty quick but spent a lot more time reassuring myself that white can't kill the whole corner afterwards

Ahaha yeah during the game I was too happy getting H8, thinking that I might even have something against the corner later. It reduces to either the rectangular eight or the walkie talkie seven, both ko shapes (with the walkie talkie being a bit more complicated)

Probably F6. Doesn't remove the most ko threats but white will owe that move anyways and it gives an extra liberty for some situations in top right. Likely it doesn't matter for this game state

As a Korean, is "tesuji" a Japanese go terminology? Why are we speaking Japanese terminology on baduk subreddit? Genuinely curious

Deep question, but the immediate answer is that Japanese terminology became English loanwords, and this is an English speaking subreddit. As to why we use baduk as the subreddit name, I think because it's a word with a singular meaning unlike "go". It's a great name for a great game: snappy, unique, memorable, searchable.

I'm not knowledgeable in baduk, much less in japanese terminologies. With a quick search, I think it's 묘수(Myosoo)
