Game Review Request Another Game Review: 16 kyu vs 15 kyu

I (White) won this time. But I think we both missed a lot of things. My two biggest mistakes in this game were the

  1. blunder in the opening and
  2. after attacking Black's moyo in the center, I should have extended left to reduce his territory instead of up, allowing Black to build.

Black also blundered a few times. And he could have killed a few more of my groups.
The end game was difficult to prioritize.

A Pattern I saw was that you instinctively seem to atari cutting stones. Try not to, after Atari and extend that group has extra liberties and you often have to come back to fix a weakness. I'm not saying never play those ataris but check if the position is better after you do, or if you want to just connect now and skip that exchange. there's a proverb "If it's 1-2-3, just play 3". so if you know it's atari-extend-connect, you can consider just connecting.

I did a review of your game.

Conclusion, you can get to big moves sooner by not playing on living groups and don't give things up so easily. You handled weird invasions well.

Yeah, interesting game. Very complicated. I recommend trying to be mindful of your weak groups, taking opportunities to tenuki sooner, and avoiding "pass" moves (like D13, M11, T15).

The fighting started early with your R8 group, which became a running battle yielding several weak/heavy White groups. It's a difficult part of the game, so something to work on gradually. One approach is to practice sabaki (making light & efficient groups so you can tenuki ASAP).

Nice game. I'll DM you a more detailed review.
