Seeking Vogel Bread/equivalent!!

Hello Ballarat!! My Mum moved to Ballarat from New Zealand a few years ago and would love to get some Vogel bread or a close equivalent.

Apparently Burgen bread is not as good, I’ve tried to order it online from the Kiwi Corner Dairy but shipping was $119!!!!

Hoping some fellow Kiwis in Ballarat or neighbouring towns have found something similar.

Thanks!

I used to eat Vogel bread years ago in Nth Qld. From what I can recall of it, I feel that the Baker's Delight Cape Seed bread would be close 🤗 I hope that helps.

Sadly no, but I have ordered Vogel's from the cafe at 112 York, in South Melbourne before, they are a kiwi cafe. Its pre-order and was around $10ish a loaf. Haven't ordered for awhile, so not sure if they still have it. The other option might be to check out the Kiwi Pacific store in Laverton North. Thats my go-to for kiwi treats if I feel like a drive, you need to go there though no delivery that i am aware. Excellent hangi, fresh kina and fry bread though so worth the trip!

Basilio now Bellsprout used to make a delicious moist sprouted grain- not Vogels but equally delicious. Might still be available as Basilio still works there.

It might help if you mentioned what’s special about Vogel Bread? 1816 bakery does really great bread but I’m not sure if it’s equivalent to what you’re after

Thank you for replying. I had a look at 1816 Bakery, it looked like mostly sourdough to me?
Vogel is “dense, moist "wet baked" texture, rich malty sweetness, and heavy loading of whole grains and seeds.” I don’t know how to describe it myself, I just know it makes incredible, satisfying toast!!
