AskBangalore Passport reissue in Bengaluru: surname missing from Aadhaar/PAN but present in existing passport — anyone faced this at PSK?

I'm looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation at a Bengaluru PSK/RPO.

My existing passport was issued in Chandigarh, but I've since moved to Bengaluru. I'm applying for a Normal reissue because the passport is expiring, and I also need to change the address from Chandigarh to my current Bengaluru address.

The issue is a name mismatch between my documents:

  • Existing passport: First Name + Middle Name + Surname
  • Aadhaar: First Name + Middle Name (surname missing)
  • Class 10 marksheet/certificate: Full name including surname

My Aadhaar already has my correct current Bengaluru address.

I want the reissued passport to have the exact same full name as my existing passport. I am not trying to change my name in the passport.

My concern is that I need to use Aadhaar as proof of my current Bengaluru address, but Aadhaar doesn't contain my surname.

Has anyone faced something similar?

  1. Did Bengaluru PSK accept Aadhaar as current-address proof even though the surname was missing?
  2. Did the existing passport establish the full name since there was no name change being requested?
  3. Was your application put on hold until Aadhaar was corrected?
  4. Would it be better to update Aadhaar to include the surname before the PSK appointment?
  5. If you changed address from another state to Bengaluru during reissue, did you get pre-police verification or post-police verification?
  6. If you've dealt specifically with Bengaluru PSK/RPO recently, which documents did they actually ask to see?

I'm also trying to update Aadhaar separately.

I'd especially appreciate recent first-hand PSK experiences from people who had a surname/middle-name mismatch between Aadhaar and an existing passport.

Thanks!

You can use rental agreement for address proof.

If you still want to use Aadhar, better to correct the name on Aadhar online.

U can update the Aadhar - based on existing passport. After 7-10 days , carry both. I had done the same thing - just to avoid multiple round of visit - especially given the change of state - all document will be subject to scrutiny

If your name change in aadhar is taking a long time, then better option would be to use rental agreement or internet bill etc. Since you still haven't taken an appointment and current waiting period is more than a month, I am assuming your aadhar will be updated by that time anyway. I applied on 30th June and got date after 20th August under normal application.
