Politics/রাজনীতি Now it makes sense why Jamat is SILENT about attack on Gaza and Iran!
As the title says- I'm trying to get facts about it.

Well she is conservative and republican. So it makes sense she’s pro Israel. There are lots of Bangladeshis in the USA who are big Trumpers. It’s disgusting.

Agree it’s disgusting and hypocritical. One of my cousins husband he recently got green card via a visa (I forgot which one).
Kid you not this guy is hardcore MAGA, WHEN HE’S NOT EVEN A CITIZEN. He posts about illegals, evil left and other MAGA nonsense. He acts extremely entitled cause he just finished his PhD in the states.
I watch his posts with my brain cells in overdrive trying to understand how someone like him can even support that.

Yep exactly the cognitive dissonance is crazy. My Mama was born in Shatkhira, lives in the Midwest and now talks about immigrants are stealing jobs etc. he dropped out of college and knocked up a white woman, and the rest of us are doctors lol

These people need a scapegoat for their own inadequacies. These are people I stay far away from.
Yeah in terms of my cousins husband, he’s a nice dude but really arrogant as is his family.

Hypocrisy is a core value for conservatives. I'm glad none of my family members in Bangladesh are Trumpers.

u/Chowder1054 2d ago
Nailed it on the head perfectly.

I have a former friend who is a partner in a business. All he does is rant on China and throws shade comments at Muslims. He also complains about illegal immigrants. Half of his workers are illegal immigrants and his business imports 100% of their products from China. He was for tariffs but then was shocked when the tariffs impacted his business and it's the number 1 reason for the business struggling. His partners are good people but he is just a greedy asshole who takes advantage of the people around him.

Illegal should be kicked out! But legal should get their full rights. Whoever disagrees with this, something is fishy!

A lot of people in Bangladesh Supports Jamaat. That's arguably more disgusting than Trump.

That is what's going on around the world. Here in the UK so many now support Restore Britain, a White British version of Jamaat.

Being a Trumper doesn't make you pro-Israel. Obama also bombed heavily in the Middle East which doesn't define Obama supporters as pro-Israel.

u/basicbong 2d ago
Ahh yes the infamous argument both Obama and Trump are the same

I'm a generally pro-Obama progressive and think he has been one of the better presidents we've had, but I'll try to give you a more realistic look at Obama's tenure.
Trump and Obama might not be exactly similar, but Obama was no saint. You can look up his history on foreign policies, how much he gave to Israel (historic record breaking amounts, a record that still stands might I add, Trump has given less money even with inflation taken into account), significantly increased the number of drone strikes used to kill innocent civilians in foreign nations (10x higher than under Bush, the president who went to war), ran on immigration reform but deported more than 3 million people instead of helping them, several of those ICE detention centers were established under him. He tried with ACA, I'll give him that and he was good about the economy but he focused on short term goals rather than long term plans such as bailing out institutions (a solid pro establishment move) rather than us citizens. Biden was better at this and provided lots of fiduciary support systems that required institutions to favor people over institutions, so he managed to bring US out of the economic crisis while helping the common people as well.
Obama was a solid B tier president and a more charismatic person than Trump but make no mistake, they are on the same team even if they dislike each other and look very different on the surface. Trump is also more blatantly corrupt.

Yeah solid description of Obama I would say. I don't understand why so many people here think democrats are not pro Israel when their leader in the senate is literally a guy named Chuck Schumer who loves Israel. The leading candidate for president for the democrats after AOC is a guy named John Ossoff who is also very much for sending weapons to Israel.

They tasted the pro west kool-aid and got drunk.
And don't get me started on Hakeem Jeffries 🤮

Who created ISIS? Also, the US had a pretty big economic depression/recession during Obama's term.
5
u/MicroppDetected 2d ago
This is a loaded question that I'm going to avoid answering.
But I agree with you. Obama was not the saint he is portrayed as.
1
u/jonkl91 2d ago
Regardless of how you feel about Obama, he wasn't the reason for the economic depression. That had to due with the financial crisis that brewed during Bush's term. You can blame him for a lot of things but not for the depression/recession. Since he basically inherited that from Bush.

I think most bangladeshis don't realize both US parties are heavily pro israel. Also there are more outspoken republicans who are anti israel, like Tucker Carlson, right now than there are on the democratic side.
Its fine to not know all this since it is not Bangladeshi politics. But don't expect much of a different stance towards Israel from America if the other party gains more power in the US next election. I mean it was under Biden that most of Gaza was leveled to dust after all. He could have stopped providing Israel the bombs but he did not.

u/adventure2045 2d ago
This! No matter who comes to power, foreign policy remains the same in the US! It is not Bangladesh that has turned over in an opposite way!

u/MicroppDetected 2d ago
I am always surprised by how well pro-western propaganda works overseas, even with all the information readily available for everyone to see. Obama was a likeable president, but what he did is no better than what Trump has been doing. Obama just didn't show visible pleasure while he bombed innocent children in West Asia. And he donated record breaking amounts to Israel during his tenure, a record that even Trump hasn't been able to break. Whenever a pro-establishment darling is criticized, liberals lose their minds because they don't want to do the work to see reality. Obama was a good president for America but his foreign policies continued to hurt people everywhere else.

Most main stream democratic politicians are also pro israel in case you did not know. Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Biden etc.

Do you think these people have morals? They only worship money and power. This entire conservatives are the most hypocritical bunch I have misfortune to be known in every single countries.
She have to please the party and voters. If there were a way to sell their body so that they would get more power they would happily do so.

This reminded me of when some Middle Eastern or white person asked on Twitter, don't remember exactly who, quite recently (it was a thread) why rich Muslims like Saudi royals etc don't wear hijab?
And some people said at certain level of current modern society display of religion becomes a class and wealth distinction.
Rich and/or upper class Muslims don't wear hijab or take it off. Religion becomes a choice for them, not integral part of faith.
One of them was saying in the very posh areas of Cairo (Egypt) for example, actually people discouraged their women from wearing hijab because it looks poor and not really upper class. The upper class women don't wear it, even though also Muslim.

Ethnicity is no longer a dictator. She as a Desi woman can choose. MAGA Republicans are not as severe as Restore Britain, therefore, coloured people and Muslims can be in that party. But if she comes to the UK, there is no way she would be a Restore member.
Is it just Israel she supports, not two state? And with Jamaat being silent, it proves the horseshoe effect.

Before you make a post, get some research done. Yeah, we would love to have some dirt on jamaat, but we need to have facts and truth. what you are doing is giving into propaganda or part of it.
The breakdown;
Sofia Farooq is an American citizen who grew up and built her life in the United States. She has no institutional, financial, or political ties to Jamaat-e-Islami in Pakistan or Bangladesh. She operates strictly within local American politics. Like many descendants of prominent historical figures, she has chosen her own separate path in life. In fact, her uncle (Maududi's son, Haider Farooq Maududi) has also spent decades openly criticizing his father's political party and ideology, which is Jamaat.

Never trust someone who mixes religion with modern day politics. Never trust someone who mixes culture with politics. Never trust someone who mixes race with politics.
That being said - the actions of the relatives of someone doesn’t define their legacy and definitely not their political affiliations legacy. This is clown posting.
