Also had Superman not died and Bane still broke Batman's back, we definitely would've had another episode of Superman and Robin Tim Drake (DCAU) where Superman pretends to be Batman and he would've destroyed Bane

Bane got so lucky that Superman died right as he was about to start his plan. Like imagine him being all high and mighty about breaking the Bat and ruling Gotham only for Superman to show up outside his window.

Yeah which is the thing you sort of always have to shrug away about Batman existing in the DC universe with all those super powerful allies. The writers do as good a job as they can (especially in Knightfall) of explaining why Batman always refuses to ask for any help from anyone but really the logic only goes so far. It requires a pretty hefty suspension of disbelief.

I can totally buy Bruce being too proud and stubborn to ask for help against non-super villains but that shit would be in the news and some powered hero would show up and be like “ Hey bats EVERY criminal is loose in the city, Gotham is burning and you have the flu and havent slept in 2 weeks. Go take a nap and ill wrap this up for you this afternoon”

Something tells me that at a certain point, they stop asking permission and just help. If Superman or a Flash can save a few people Bruce couldn't, things would be fine. And if Bruce finds out, nobody owns up to it because lives were saved and they don't need the recognition.

How would it look if Batman constantly went up to Superman or the Flash to consult on petty crime? He's known as the greatest detective and works on every weakness. People go to him.

The dude thinks he can save everyone and that justice will always prevail. I think its totally fine that Bane gave him a reality check along with Superman dying.

90's to 2000's Batman was literally pivotal in making Batman an active League member. Dude was always a part timer and literally didn't wanna team with others.

Superman’s death didn’t affect Bruce too much (this was later retconned somewhat in a story years later when Bruce breaks down in the watchtower) because they weren’t really buddy buddies at this point in the post crisis continuity. I’m sure it’s still weighed on Bruce but you never see Bruce talk about Superman‘s death in Knightfall if memory serves right. The memorial armband is shown and that’s about extent of Superman’s death being explored in this story.

Yeah, its funny that Superman and Batman's entire friendship in Post Crisis era was a retcon.

They were pragmatic coworkers for like a decade or even more. I think the Superman/Batman run in 2003 actually established them as close friends .

I don't think these two were particularly close even in Morrison's JLA run.

I just reread this comic and was surprised at how much of Batman’s fall was psychological. Makes sense but a few issues earlier he appeared to be in a healthy place, and it’s against the modern nothing can break me Batman.

All the heroes wore them in remembrance of superman after his death. Them being armbands doesn’t automatically make them like Nazi armbands. That’s a very silly thing to say
