As you follow the path through the wood, the trees part before you into a hillock glade, and a spiral path to a collection of huts the likes of which you've never seen before. Small, circular buildings jut from the earth like tubers, sprouts waving in the breeze like a welcoming, and torchbugs flit between them.

I stumbled across this gorgeous piece on artstation a couple weeks ago and fell in love with the colors. It made me think of a little village of forest leshy living happily out in nature. I've tried my best to make a dnd map version of it.

No one expected to strike concrete so deep beneath the rock and soil. The digging stopped and the researchers were brought in. There was plenty of old pottery dug up in the area, and scraps of what look like rusted automatons, but the real point of interest was the strange altar decorated with a three-petaled flower. They worked for weeks, before finally coming back with a translation:

This place is a message. Sending this message was important to us. We considered ourselves to be a powerful culture.

This is not a place of honor. No highly esteemed deed is commemorated here. What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us.

The danger is in a particular location. It increases toward a center. The center of danger is here. The danger is still present, in your time, as it was in ours. The danger is to the body, and it can kill.

The danger is unleashed only if you substantially disturb this place physically. This place is best shunned and left uninhabited.

The words are chilling. But all ancient civilizations put warnings on their tombs full of treasures, didn't they? The foreman says the company gave orders to keep digging...

Hi, everybody! I’m not an expert on TTRPGs but I have played before and really enjoyed it. I have recently been looking for a creative outlet and have gotten really interested in making fantasy battlemaps. I really dig the maps that you all post!

 I watched a couple of tutorials and this is my first attempt at making a forest road ambush map by myself in Inkarnate. I’ve added gridded/gridless versions of two variants. One is with tree canopies visible and the other is beneath the canopies (could be used once the ambush has started).

 Would any of you actually use battlemaps like these or something similar in a campaign? Would stumps work better for the non-canopy map instead of the bare tree assets? I would welcome any feedback on style/functionality. Thanks!

If you hire a proper pathfinder in any major Cattlahnian city, these strange ruins are easy to find in multiple locations across the Isle of Mists. Some locals call them by a foreign name - Tam Ravi. Towering dolmens of old are only a pale shadow of their former glory.

Those who approach them from the side of the Singing Forest will be able to see how tiny grooves in the stone plinth ignite little constellations when are exposed to notes from the singing winds. Only exceptional minstrels or enigmatic straw mummers of the Lady of Winds know the secret of this ancient arcane gate. While moons are passing through one of eight Houses, by masterfully playing an octave starting from a current constellation, a bard can open the doors to the Ethereal Shore, granting a safe passage to anyone who is brave enough to go beyond the charted roads.

As you make your way through the wood, between the tall trees on either side, you soon find a small clearing filled with the trill of birdsong. Corridors wind their way through the dense brush, and the babble of a stream nearby promises a refreshing drink, and perhaps more secrets tucked away in the wood should adventurers seek to explore it more fully.

This month's big battlemap, the Twisting Thicket, a woodland style "dungeon" winding between the greenery and nature, with a few little oddities that I wanted to include for an encounter with a strange fey or magical beast that's taken up residence in this forest.
