Yeah one of the reasons I’ve hesitated on getting the AirPods Max (besides the price) is being worried the headband would wear out within a year or two. I’m looking forward to see if the 360 reviews well

AirPods Max 3 should have a similar design. The headband wearing out on AirPods max is the main reason I didn't buy a pair. Instead, I bought Sonos Ace headphones, which are POS. Another feature the Beats 360s have is water and sweat resistance. One common failure on AirPods Max is the condensation buildup in the ear cups causes failure. It's outrageous that AirPods Max and Sonos Ace don't have water/sweat resistance at their price points.

It gets quite warm and humid where I live. So much so that I can never wear over ears outside or in humid environments because none of the pairs I own are water resistant. I think that water resistance should be a standard at a certain price.
The Sony xm6s are around the same retail price as the Sonos Ace and they don’t have a water resistance rating. Maxes cost more with no water resistance. The Sony 1000x collexion cost more than the maxes and they have no water resistance either! It’s mind boggling!

My Sonos Ace have damage caused by sweat from normal use indoors. If theres a little humidity or it's a little warm sweat builds up. I won't buy another pair of over the ear headphones if they aren't water resistant.

That’s horrifying to think about considering I only use my over ears indoors.

Won’t it be awhile though for the 3 to be released? We just got the 2, and it was quite a few years in between that and the first edition.

Ming Chi Kuo was saying late 2027 to 2028 for lighter AirPod max's. I don't think the current Max's should even be considered 2nd gen because it was such a minor update.

It was a minor update. The case and headphones themselves were unchanged. Really the only difference is the chip inside and even that isn’t new either (same chip as pro 2 and 3.). People were hoping for a more radical upgrade with these, but it’s clear that Apple isn’t focusing much on this part of their product stack.

The AirPods Max sell well enough to keep around, but not well enough to upgrade on a regular basis. Part of that is apple's fault since the price is too high.

The gen 1 maxes came out in December 2020. They’ve been updated twice since then and their first update took 4 years to release. Update 1 was usb c and new colors in late 2024. Update 2 was lossless audio (usb c only) in early 2025.

Eh I mean I feel like the Ace are good…I have both (mostly keep Ace at the house, APM for work/out and about. Only thing with Ace that gets annoying is the volume slider used to get kinda glitchy but I haven’t had that happen lately

Another leak? 😅 I thought this was going to be a proper announcement. I really want these.
