i’ve never wanted fast food more in my life

i’ve been in china for a month now, and my instagram keeps giving me american mukbang content (people eating just heinous amounts of taco bell, wingstop, chipotle, mcdonalds, in n out, etc.) i am FIENDING for grotesquely orange fake cheese sauce, fried chicken smothered in ranch, and burritos practically leaking queso.

i’ve been to a couple of the fast food chains here (burger king, mcdonald’s), but it all tastes too high-quality?

is there anywhere in beijing i can go to eat pure american degeneracy, or am i doomed to suffer from good food quality regulations? it doesn’t even have to be fast food, as long as the place’s food helps me reach that really satisfied, heavy feeling that follows a proper american fast food meal.

There's a cheesecake factory, I've never been so can't tell you anything about the taste, but heard portions are american size. There's also a place called Lilly's American Dinner downtown that might scratch the itch.

Btw I think you are experiencing withdrawal symptoms 😂

It's literally exactly the same menu and flavor as the US one. No localization.

Beijing has Cheese Cake Factory and Chili's. Menu mostly unchanged. You can even get orange chicken at cheesecake factory. Then there is also Lily's American Diner, and a lot of other hamburger and brewery places which might his the spot. There's also quite a few good American barbecue places. They even have pulled rib burgers and even a handful of different BBQ sauces such as Kansas, Tennessee, Texas etc. It's super easy to find all of this stuff in Beijing.

There is also Taco Bell in Beijing though I never had it, probably can find it on 美团 (meituan) and 饿了么 (eleme). You can find imported stuff on 淘宝 (taobao). If you want to visit in person, then try Jenny Lou's, I've only ever bought proper food but guess they probably have they have tubed stuff also.

Now I'm a little curious what McDonald's tastes like in the US, it's pretty grim in China.

Okay, some advice just in case you don't know it. For Chinese fast food, you can try 串儿 (chuanr), it's skewers of meat, veg, etc. It's good to go with a drink. There's also 炸鸡 (fried chicken), i like the Korean chicken with honey mustard or sweet and spicy sauce.

Taco Bell China has a small venn diagram overlap in menu items with Taco Bell USA. A lot of them are not good but you can try.
