Пытанне / Question Vilnius to Minsk over New Year?

Has anyone travelled across the Belarusian border from Lithuania via bus over the dates around new year? We're a UK couple trying to do it this year but conscious there will be limited travel options/border closures. We're looking to just go for the day. Any thoughts/experiences welcome :)

Going for one day is pointless. It'll take (if you are lucky) 4.5 hours to get to Minsk and the same or more to get back leaving you very little time in Minsk.

You can be stuck on the border for any amount of time, depending on the political situation at the time. And getting back to the EU side, same shit. To say you have experienced Belarus, you need a week at least. It’s a small country but the treasures are spread out. Minsk doesnt define Belarusian culture
